When i saw Dunkirk in the theater i thoroughly enjoyed it. The best way to watch any Chris Nolan movie. I loved the dog fighting sequences and the tense realism and the sense of scale and telling the story from the land, sea and air. When it was all over I knew I liked it. It was def a departure for Nolan but for direction and craft it remains top notch and a strong title in his repatoire. Seeing it again on dvd gave me a new love of the film. I think its actually an easier viewing (not boring) than his puzzle thrillers. You have to watch it intensley. All the characters and locations are connected as a whole and knowing where they are in relation to eachother is important in understanding the movie. And it rips through my living room and i just love the sounds and score and its just a joy to watch. Thats all.

Chris Nolan definitely would agree.

I missed out on Dunkirk in theaters, not exactly sure why either, but saw every one of his other of his films in theaters. Even watching them all in IMAX when he began utilizing the IMAX cameras. I would have to agree, his films are best experienced like that.

Dunkirk was special in 15/70 mm IMAX. I saw it in that format three times, then twice on regular screens and once in LieMAX.

LieMAX was an incredible disservice for the film. It doesn't even do 20% of what IMAX did for it.

Thankfully we have a proper IMAX theater about 10-ish miles from my home, so that's how I've experienced each one of his films. Truthfully never been to a LieMAX theater, even though we have them nearby, too. I really wish I could have seen Dunkirk in theaters. Still don't know why I missed it.

Clean the bottom of the disc with warm water and a microfiber towel.

Yes, is not the pace, the movie (Dunkirk) is boring in my opinion too. For example 1917 is slow paced but pretty entertaining.

I just don't get these types of comments on the film. Dunkirk was an evacuation rather than a major engagement. Ever since Saving Private Ryan it seems like many folks here and abroad like to label war films as boring, depressing, or uninteresting. IMHO, that's not the case often times. My opinion is that most of the populace had no clue what Dunkirk was about and thought it was supposed to be an action film. When it wasn't those people claimed it was boring, uninteresting, etc.

I fully understand what the meaning of the movie is and that is how Dinamo also works. The problem that the movie presents to me is the lack of emotion, on the other hand the operation was on a huge scale and that is not reflected either in the movie. I do not intend a movie with the dynamism of Black Hawk Down but the truth is that it was a disappointment.

This is a good description of why I thought this movie was boring my first sit through. I went into it expecting action, a lot of dialogue, and it just wasnít that. However, even knowing this, it still seems like a chore to sit through with this movie. Not sure why, as I like Nolanís movies. This one is just hard for me personally to get into.

I felt exactly the opposite. I was immediately sucked into Tommy, Farrier, and Bolton's struggles.

"Boring" isn't the word I'd use for Dunkirk, but it does have a detached, clinical approach to it. Having seen it a few times now, it's not a bad movie, just one that easier to appreciate for the craft that went into it rather than the final product itself.

I agree that 1917 is superior in just about every way. There's enough of a beating heart that I can genuinely enjoy the movie. Dunkirk just doesn't have that IMO.
