Been holding off on this for a while just hoping they would come out with a Steelbook copy. Would love to see an all black steelbook with only the Batman logo on the front, just like the original VHS tape.

They do have a Steelbook version. You just have to buy all 4 movies.

Huge haze over the entire picture. It makes it uninvolving to me. I always disliked that old transfer, and I never knew why until I saw this one.

I'm looking at that screenshot comparison between the old 2010 master, and the 1080p version of the new 2019 remaster. The 2019 remaster has extreme levels of crushed shadows and blown highlights. It's painfully obvious in the guy's black suit and pants.

But the review gave 5 stars for the video quality of the 1080p remaster. What gives? Is my monitor poorly calibrated? Or has everyone else gone blind?

I bought this because I heard that the normal Blu-Ray would have the new transfer too but it looks same to me. How can I tell the difference? The picture fills the entire screen like in the old Blu-ray and it even continues from the same spot when I put the old disc in the player. I have the finnish version.

The disc looks like this:

That should be the new BD. It has the new art on it at least.

If the transfer it's different then it's the new one. You can easily check it. But the artwork is from the remastered blu.

If your other 1.85:1 BDs display with letterboxing and Batman doesn't, it sounds like you've had a faulty disc.

The resumed playback is a giveaway, but if your disc doesn't have 7.1 Atmos audio it's the old one.

I don't mean letterbox. The new version should have small black bars:

https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&...131580&i=3&l=1

The old and new disc I have fill the entire screen. I checked the audio and there is no mention of 7.1 Atmos.

I don't think its faulty. They made new discs but used the old version for some reason. I used the search and found this thread:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ight=batman+4k

I wonder why they would do it?

Shit happens, unfortunately. When Warners did the uk UHD of Superman The Movie the included BD was the original VC-1 edition of the SE with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio, only it had been newly pressed with the bland blue boilerplate artwork and the specs e.g. DD 5.1 were correct on the back cover so someone actually made a conscious decision to use that crappy old disc. It wasn't the more recent theatrical BD (as was included with the US UHD) or even the re-encoded edition of the SE with DTS-HD.

What does the spec say for the BD on the back of the Finnish Batman UHD set?

Ta. That looks like a regular cock-up then, they pulled the old master and pressed it with the new art.

1.85:1 is still letterbox, just really thing!

Your back cover shot doesn't mention Atmos on the BD, perhaps you guys weren't meant to have the remastered Blu-ray?

As Geoff D posted, you do get the odd pressing error where the old master gets plonked on a new disc with new art, but as the specs don't mention the new audio, perhaps it's not an error. Perhaps Warner Bros. are just dicks.

Edit: Either discs don't have DTS, just Dolby TrueHD and Atmos, so not sure what's going on.

That is what I meant. If the new disk contains the previous version, it is a failed disk (or a fraud).

The aspect ratio listed on the back is incorrect.

You're right, those specs on the case are completely ****ed either way. Wrong AR on both discs and wrong audio for the BD anyway. You have to love how daft Warners can be.
