Excellent. I wonder if it will be a re-scan; the original Blu was a 4K IP scan.

Great news. Both cuts in 4K, and Hearts of Darkness on its own Blu-ray disc like the FDE, please.

Hopefully just the theatrical cut. Redux turned Kilgore into a cartoon and the unfinished scenes really stood out.

That transfer didn't really look state of the art, not even when it was brand new, although I damned near cried when I saw it in proper 2.35 widescreen so it had that going for it. All depends on what Zoetrope want to do, but Tucker got a GORGEOUS new 4K transfer so AN should be fine.

StudioCanal/Lionsgate will be handling the distribution IIRC so I can see this being another tat-laden collector's edition from StudioCanal in the UK - the trouble is I've already got the prior tat-laden collector's edition! (see below) There's no need to even update the HoD disc or the other extras disc, just gimme da movie lovingly restored in 4K and I can swap out the 1080p BD.

Thatís your opinion, which is fine, but whatís the problem with including both? Just choose the theatrical cut.

I speculate this is going to have one UHD disc and considering SC's mixed track record with UHD encoding, I'd much rather have one cut dedicated to the UHD disc.

It will definitely be a bummer for me if they don’t include Redux in 4K (I can never decide which cut I like more), but I’ll buy it regardless.

Given how shonky the HDR10 layers end up being then it doesn't really matter if they branch in Redux or give each cut a separate disc, SC are going to bodge it anyways. Dolby Vision will hopefully mollify the worst of the compression just like it does on their editions of The Fog, EFNY, ED2, Deer Hunter and Cliffhanger.

Congrats to fans of the film ! Just watched it for my twice a decade attempt to connect to the film and although I liked it more than I ever have it still didn’t work for me and I won’t be upgrading. Should look wonderful!

Abso-truthly. They've shown that they can bork the HDR10 of a 90 minute movie just as easily as a 3 hour one.

Apocalypse Now is absolutely chock full of stuff that generally sends their encodes into a tailspin, like scenes with lots of smoke or fog with bright lights

One hopes they'll get better moving forward. I'm hoping for the best and will keep my fingers and toes crossed. Worked for EFNY.....kinda

I want to believe. Scarface and Apocalypse Now are in rumored state for now, but I hope it happens. In case of Apocalypse Now - both cuts.

Sure, but I meant my comment along the lines of, say, 2 discs- each one a separate cut. But yeah, SC won't be helping things... (Get David M again! He'd be the perfect guy to do Apocalypse Now's UHD.)

It's hard to say. AN was apparently shown as HDR demo material for the format in 2016. Given that, it could be a recycling of the old scan or a new one if they decided to go back to the well after all the time has passed between the previous restoration and minted a new master.
