Separate encodes on a BD-100 would probably work. The 20 minutes worth of credits could easily be bit-starved and even then, there'd only be just over 3 hours of content on the disc.

True, but if the site listing is correct it'll be a BD-66 (hopefully it's not and they just defaulted to that)

It always defaults to that, we won't know for sure until the disc is released.

Oh, great.

This one finally comes to UHD and it's the so called "extended" cut.

Not sure if I'm going to get this. I can't stand that a couple of violent scenes were taken out which were originally meant to be seen. I don't care if they looked fake or not or what Stallone thought of it afterwards, it was there in the beginning so it needs to be there now.

Disappointing...

Considering how shonky the extended cut looks on Blu-ray thanks to Lionsgate’s barbaric, bitrate-starved encode, not to mention the different colour timing for the new material... This is a welcome and necessary upgrade. If they were only including one cut, I’d want it to be the extended, not merely because it’s my preferred cut but also because of that disappointing Blu-ray encode.

I’ll be pre-ordering the second it goes live, no matter the cost.

Good point. They'd have to refrain from putting the extras on there like they usually do, but they won't have a lot of extra language audio to soak up space either. They might have to forego Dobly though, not that that'd be a deal breaker for me.

You won't have to pay a lot, this'll be another Lionsgate cheapy from the looks of it. Many recent Blus from Lionsgate look rather awful with their chronic banding, Rambo wasn't alone in that regard!

I like the idea of having both cuts in one package, so 2K upscale or not, I'll probably still buy this. And Lionsgate prices are usually good.

I've decided not to immediately write off upscales but will instead judge them on a per title basis. Some will be worth it, some not. Just as some real 4K titles will give me reasons not to buy them.

Price will be a factor, too.

If only everyone were smart enough to take this approach. I'm never phased by the announcement of an upscale. Many 2K upscales are some of the most impressive 4K UHD titles available, so this ongoing culture that upscaled UHD discs offer nothing of value, is simply quite idiotic. If anything, I can see that excuse used by those who don't want to double-dip on something they already have on Blu-ray, to rationalize said resistance. If that's what it takes to make them feel like they aren't missing out, more power to them, but I have seen too many phenomenal upscales to have such a simplistic mindset.

As for my purchasing habits, some titles I jump on without hesitation, or because the price is too good to pass up; but for titles I'm sceptical of, or not dying to have on the format, I try to wait for reliable reviews and word of mouth.
