Default Twin Peaks: From Z to A 4K UHD (1990-2017)

Twin Peaks: From Z to A Blu-ray Twin Peaks: From Z to A Blu-ray

Not sure exactly if this counts, but a new big box set will contain a single UHD disc featuring two episodes of Twin Peaks in 4K (the original 1990 pilot and episode 8 from the 2017 Return show).

It totally counts. Was just about to post a thread for this myself. Great announcement!

While the entire series on 4K disc would have been stunning this is still pretty awesome that some of it will be on 4K.

Amazing that we're getting the pilot and episode 8 in 4k, but guess I'll hold on until whenever the complete series is ready in 4k. I assume it'll eventually happen if they've already bothered with the pilot.

Would've been nice if they could've just stretched into making episodes 17 and 18 (which were joined together and more or less akin to a movie in and of themselves) into the 4K offering.

I’ve just recently re-watched the complete mystery blu-ray and the picture really is stunning. It’s not something I will need to upgrade to 4K but looking forward to seeing the full packaging.

Every episode already has a 4K scan, so they weren't "bothered" to do the pilot. It already existed.

This is so uncanny... I've been working through my first viewing of The Return and just watched episode 7 last night. Guess I got something to look forward to tonight then.

Didn't the Blu-ray for the original series feature the same decade+ old HD masters as the Gold Box set (albiet with a few additional inserts of footage that was formerly sourced only from video)? The press release for this new box and 4K disc says the pilot was newly transferred from film elements.

Hmm so does this mean there will or will not be a future UHD release of the whole series?

I thought that the blu-ray was done with a new 2k remaster, not 4k. But now I feel like I might misremember that. Pretty sure it was, especially now that this seems to use a new scan for the pilot. But we'll see, I assume there will be a complete 4k re-release down the line eventually.

In for the pilot. I really can’t overstate how affecting this show was for me when I first watched the original 1990 broadcasts when I was 10. I won’t get into my thoughts on Season 2 or The Return, but watching the pilot on UHD is going to be special.

Correct, only FWWM had a 4K remaster

Is this supposed to be like the Star Trek:TNG sampler blu-ray back in the day? I don't really see the point of just releasing 2 episodes... I haven't yet bought any Twin Peaks so I hope they intend to release the whole thing on 4K so I can just bypass blu-ray.

Man, I can't wait for the entire series to hit 4K, if it does I mean. I'm sure it will. I also hope they found film elements to fix the few remaining SD shots. The worst one to me was when Audrey was talking to Windom Earle in the library in one of the last episodes. It was a few seconds of SD footage then back to HD and was jarring. I expect the special effects to be SD but not random scenes.
