Yes, that would probably help you get more out of Doctor Sleep.

You can go in blind, but rewatching it does add a bit to a few scenes throughout and specifically the ending.

I try to watch The Shining every Halloween season or Christmas season. Such a great movie!

Doctor Sleep, an excellent sequel, I loved it. Rebecca Ferguson was AWESOME. Her Rose the Hat was sexy, funny, intelligent and 100% scary as F!! Whenever she says, "Well Hello There", run!!!!!!

The recent UHD release of The Shining is beautiful, pickup both titles and have a double feature party!

I'm REALLY excited to get this next week.

I think Im going to blind buy this on Day 1. I usually dont do that but there is simply too much going for it. Must have it. The Shining in 4K is amazing so this will make it a nice 1-2 punch.

Although - Im reading that the DC is much better and is the preferred cut. Damn. Might have to just get the blu-ray release since if the DC is the right cut then I'll never watch the UHD theatrical. Ugh, why didnt we get both in UHD?

I don't get why folks are considering the Blu-Ray instead. The included BD in the 4K release has the extended cut PLUS you get the only way to watch the extended cut in 4K via the included Digital copy. That alone makes it far more worthwhile than the standard Blu, even if you don't care about the 4K UHD theatrical disc.

All you get with the Blu-Ray is, well, the Blu-Ray.

Yep, if the money is not a factor, just get the UHD, but if you're looking to save $10 and only plan on watching the DC on disc, then the Blu is more practical. edit: and I agree, it's sucks we're not getting a more complete release (4k TC/DC options on one disc).

I watched this a second time with my daughter and found my second viewing to be more enjoyable than the first as I was less distracted by the presentation and more invested in the story..I have no interest in seeing the TC just as I have no interest in seeing the European cut of the Shining.. if even one second is taken away from the bar scene or from any of the third act for that matter, I'm out..
Both THE SHINING and DOCTOR SLEEP have stunning 4K presentations. My only gripe is that , for me, they are not suited to be seen as a double bill because of the difference between the film and digital presentations.. Great care was taken to recreate certain sets from the original in the sequel. This work is diminished somewhat by the change in stock IMHO..

Here's an review/unboxing:

Important points:

2 discs (4K theatrical, Blu-ray Director's Cut)

Extras are on the 4K theatrical disc, director's cut disc has nothing but the movie.

So wait, the Theatrical version isn't on Regular Blu-ray? Does WB have their wires crossed?
