Default disc ejects when TV mode changed

Everytime I switch my TV from TV mode to DVD mode the DVD ejects. And I have to put it back in, which means it starts, again, from the very beginning, including the FBI warning. How do I fix this? Thank you

This problem seems extremely unusual, it would help if you mention what TV, DVD/BD player, and HDMI cable you're using. Mentioning the disc and title in question is important as well.

One more thing. Are you using a universal remote? Perhaps the two functions are using the same code?

You're missing a lot of information regarding the brand of your TV, the remote and whether if you have Blu-ray Player or a DVD Player. Some people call blu-rays DVDs, which can be annoying and misleading because, they're two entirely different formats. Blu-rays are not DVDs.

WTF is that garbage (post above)?

Back to the topic. The problem is in HDMI communication between the DVD/BD player and the TV. 2 possible cases:

1. When the TV changes video input, it is automatically sending the TURN ON or OPEN TRAY signal.

2. When DVD/BD player is turned on, it automatically opens tray.

You need to check/change the settings both on the TV (usually a smart TV) and/or DVD/BD to NOT open the tray unless commanded.

Still, it may not work all the time. I still have occasional issues where I turn my TV off while watching BD and the dang tray opens.

In regard to the original post, I am no expert, but I know that my Sony player is matched with my TV so that when I put a disc in, the TV turns on or if already on switches to the right input. Also, if I turn the TV off while it is on the blu-ray input, the player will eject the disc (at least I think it does - I have only done that a few times and I am not at home to test it).

I do not have a problem with it ejecting the disc if I switch inputs, however.

The remote is the one that came with it. It says RMT-VBI00U, or maybe that's
RMT-VB100U. And it has a BD above that. The disc is a DVD and not a Blu Ray but this is the first disc where I've had this problem. It was actually the first disc of Popes and the Papacy: A History by The Great Courses. I just tried it with the second disc and it does it with that too. I don't ever remember having this problem before. The model number is BDP S1500. There's also a 1638808 5D (The 5D is in a different box but i
t looks like they go together)

I just tested that. If I turn on the Blu Ray player before changing the mode it works fine.

You could try disabling these settings:

Home> Setup> HDMI Settings> Control for HDMI> On/Off
Home> Setup> HDMI Settings> Linked to TV-off> Valid/Invalid
Home> Setup> HDMI Settings> Quick Start Mode> On/Off

On your Sony player, if the model number is correct.
