So what do people think about zilch special features? I'll be renting the empty version to see how it goes, and if I think it's worth it then I'll pick it up. But I don't want to spend much on this multidisc "ultimate version" they have planned for November either. Funny, they spend over a decade working on this movie, which is all about revolutionizing cinema, and they probably have a gazillion stories to tell, documentaries, behind-the-scenes, etc. Special features is what most people want from the release, just to see how much blood, sweat and tears actually went into making the damn thing.

I think it's an absolute joke. Who the hell are they trying to fool? Maximise PQ and AQ by only putting the film on the disc. Hmmm, so, say guys, what's stopping you making it, oh, I don't know, A TWO DISC BD SET with all the features on the second disc in HD?! Wow, surely that couldn't be done to maintain quality.

It's such an honour to have the right to purchase a bare bones edition! James, buddy, my local Blockbuster will be getting $1.95 on tightar$e Tuesday when I rent it and you can see my cash when I see a real release that combines quality and quantity, something that a product for the highest grossing film of all time should have.

As for this Earth Day thing - next thing they'll tell us it comes in a unique recycled paper packaging because they are so environmentally friendly and the packaging will suspiciously look like a brown paper bag.

Nice try guys, but I didn't buy into the hype of the film when it was released. Yes, I thought it was a technical marvel and a good film, but I didn't find it to be a masterpiece. I didn't rush to see it when it came out even though I enjoy James Cameron's films immensely and I won't be rushing to fork over my hard earned dollars for this. This will be a rental and that's it.

^I'll still be buying it, but I don't often watch special features. More importantly, where can you rent forf $1.95 in Australia?

I'll be buying it regardless of extras, I very rarely watch any of them, and am all for maximum bitrate!

Same, but the maximum bit rate they have been trying to sell is a joke. Why not just add another disc if that was the only reason for no special features?

Yeah, promoting it that way I guess is a joke, but more space can't hurt the presentation...

My Blockbuster has cheap Tuesday and everything in the store is $1.95. It's great for checking out titles I'm not convinced of a blind buy on. Plus, my local pizza place does $5.95 large pizzas that day so it's tightar$e Tuesday all round! Makes for a cheap night in - dinner and a movie for $7.90!

Ahh yes, I used to live near a blockbuster, but sadly don't anymore.

Being EzyDVD, I would be very surprised if it was Blu-ray sized. Previous ones were usually the same tin regardless of the disc inside.

JB Hifi have a pre-order deal, get the bluray for $34.98 and get the Avatar Survival Guide (that 270 page book) for free

http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/dvd/d...blu-ray/483276

Personally I don't really care about the book but I guess I could buy it, then sell it to make it seem like I got the bluray for cheaper

Plus $3.60 postage. For only a few more dollars I could import the UK steelbook, which comes with more bonuses. Australia really needs to decrease its ridiculous pricing.

Yeah its not very even and we're considered lucky if we can get a newly released bluray for $30 whereas everywhere else (UK & USA) seem to have a 30%+ off deal with every single one, some even going for as low as $20 on its first day

The RRP is right in conjunction with other countries, but our 'sales' aren't. Could be worse, imagine paying for JAP blurays with an average of US$80

Ouch, I wouldn't ever pay that much for a single fim.

I just preordered the UK steelbook, i'll have to wait a few days for it to arrive before I can watch it once it is released but as much as I love this film, the steelbook makes ot worth the little wait.

I know! Its annoying because I want to buy a JAP bluray special edition which is just a 2 disc set & it'd cost me US$120, and there's 2 I need to buy because its unlikely it'll be released outside of Japan

I'm personally not interested in Avatar enough to bother with a steelbook version, plus if it costs more I generally skip them

Fair enough. I'm a big fan and already had an order going on amazon uk so just added it on. Is there any reason the japanese blus are so pricey.

39 days to go

Japan's just super expensive to live in, thus is why a majority of the prices are out of control including videogames. I guess the people who work there make more money so they can afford it but it doesn't really balance itself out

Does anyone know if iut will be dvd sized or blu ray sized, and are there any pics of it anywhere? I'm considering cancelling my uk order and just picking it up locally.

Also, where does it say it is a steelbook?
