Where are the confirmed disc specs for S6?

DTS-HD HR 5.1 is a bit random...

Apoogies if I'm being a bit early... another user built database had that in but I've found out 1) he says it's from the cover scan he did and 2) I've looked and the cover actually says DTS Surround 5.1 and PCM 2.0 so he MAY have checked (he has the set if he did a scan, presumably) or he may have made an entry error.

I am contacting him to see if he has/can check properly from a disc.

Highly likely it's plain ol' DTS 5.1 then, just like other Acorn releases (Chernobyl, The Terror: S1).

Probably; he's updating info on cast and crew at the moment and will do a full submission Friday.

WTF... Amazon are still saying it's released on 12th July but are now saying delivery to me is expected to be between 17th July and 14th August!

Are they being told there's a delay in sending it out already or is it realistically an incorrect release date?

I got the same email. I'm guessing Amazon haven't been told how much stock they will get ahead of release date. I'd expected the usual crappy 'Saturday after' given they seem to have forgotten how to do pre-orders in recent years, but the month-long window makes me think they have no idea how many they will be able to fulfil in the week of release. Still, it will be pretty poor if they do their usual 'waiting to dispatch' whilst showing as In Stock on the 12th. Providing the price hasn't jumped, I'll cancel and reorder if they pull that nonsense.

As for the date itself, it has shown up on https://baseorg.uk/future-releases/ - which I believe is an industry site? - so I'm more confident of it actually materialising!

Amazon have just dispatched my order. Still can't find any information on specs or any decent reviews for this set or even the standalone S6. Guess I will find out for myself once it arrives.

My guess:
- LPCM 2.0 stereo on all series
- DTS 5.1 lossy on S5 and S6
- 1080i/50
- English HoH subtitles
- all the extras of the individual releases

Looking forward to receiving this - hope Amazon dispatch my order shortly!

DTS 5.1 is actually lossy (although I've always favoured it over Dolby Digital, especially at full 1.5mbps rate). I'd actually be fine with full fat DTS, long as everything else is done right.

I believe the first few seasons were broadcast as stereo only so PCM 2.0 would be fine for those (whether surround mixes exist for those I wouldn't know).

Sorry, I meant to type lossy! Wasn't thinking straight - I don't think I've ever seen a lossless 5.1 track on an Acorn release, so I assume any 5.1 would be lossy DTS 5.1 - or Dolby Digital 5.1 if they're really lazy!

Yes, I agree - and will be a step up on the German release's completely lossy Dolby Digital 2.0 (and later 5.1) tracks.

AT PRESENT mine is shown on Amazon's site as arriving today, but so far no timeslot is specified (like it is on another couple of items turning up today)... and sometimes that means they'll be so late they go back to the depot and try again tomorrow... fingers crossed it'll be today

Mine says delivery scheduled or something. I imagine it is being intentionally held back until tomorrow.

Strangely enough, that's what I have just got today (delayed in post, now expected 13th/14th) despite it claiming it was arriving today...

Hmmm... well at least mine arrived today Now just got to check the specs etc... odd that the three HD keep cases have individual EANs not the usual 'No to be sold separately', almost as if they will be selling the Blu-rays in 2-series sets (1-2, 3-4 and 5-6) later hoping people will upgrade from the DVDs.

Glad to hear they're in multiple cases rather than one jumbo one, but strange it's not 2x 6-disc cases!

Here's an unboxing video:

Love how the back cover appears to mention Dolby Atmos in the small print at the bottom - although the DD symbol, like the region 2 DVD symbol, is I hope erroneous and the set is filled with LPCM 2.0 tracks.

My copy arrived. I'm ripping it now so will know the audio for all seasons in a few hours. Series 1 has PCM 2.0.
