I thought this was excellent, it’s night and day with No Way Home and a return to the regal pomp of Marvel’s 3d heyday. That opening scene is the closest I’ve seen 3d get to VR, I actually felt a little dizzy for the first time I can recall outside of a headset.
It is also the most visually inventive film I’ve seen with constant memorable scenes/deaths/sights stuffed throughout. I even enjoyed the story. I liked that the antagonists motivations were so personal and it all builds to the most spectacular climax of any MCU film. Marvel takes a lot of flak and much of their work is generic but with this and Eternals I think they are at the peak of their creative game and not just in CG. The way they wove in Baron Mordo’s deceit was very clever and there’s something about the unstoppability of Wanda that makes her genuinely unsettling. Up there with Lee Pace in Foundation. It’s a bit of a jolt watching 24fps film though after becoming used to motion smoothing at home, the blur and judder is apparent and does detract from the 3d. Fingers crossed for a disc, it’ll be worth it just to freeze-frame the split-second dimension jumping and soak up the madness. Although if the home release is cropped it will stunt the experience. |

Incredibly my local theatre is adding 3D screenings of MOM 3 weeks after it’s opening. The first time they’ve shown 3D since the pandemic initially shut their doors. Going back to see it again on Tuesday.

The only difference between this movie and Spiderman 3 is that this time they used Raimi's excellent visuals to paper over some of the cracks. I like Spiderman 3 by the way and overall I like this movie too. Last edited by cdx47; 05-23-2022 at 06:00 AM. |

BTW is there an explanation for why Doctor Strange has been so passive-aggressive in his last 2 films? I headcanoned that it's because Wong cheated him out of his job, but perhaps I missed something. Similarly, where is Shang Chi in all of this? Last we saw him, he was hanging out with Wong..? ![]() |

Sadly, there are critics of our beloved format out there who would happily regard porn movies as a valid art form before conceding that 3D is anything other than a silly gimmick for kids and idiots. Anyway, I thought Multiverse of Madness was a lovely slice of 3D porn! |

I'm finally getting to see this tomorrow night in 3D. Very much looking forward to it.
I discovered 3D in 1982 when local Channel 48 aired Revenge of the Creature. Being only 11, I didn't get to see any of the 80s 3D movies in the theater except for Jaws 3-D (which blew my mind). So I basically only got to see the TV showings back then. In 1985 I got a copy of Amazing 3-D and practically devoured it. I was obsessed with the idea of seeing every 3D movie ever released, even if only in 2D. Jump to 1991 and the Roxy Screening Room was showing M 3-D! The Movie, one of the Steve Gibson films he re-edited and re-issued in the 80s. I went to see it and after it was over, realized that I didn't need to see every 3D movie ever made. This was reinforced 15 years later when I saw The Stewardesses at World 3-D Film Expo II. |

Just came from a IMAX 3D screening.
The movie was ok. A bit different kind of Marvel movie and you can see Sam Raimi's influence especially in the third act. The 3D was in the opening scene very disappointing. Felt like a rushed autoconversion. But after that everything gets better - MUCH, MUCH BETTER! The first big action scene in the middle of a city looked just like this kind of movie is supposed to look in 3D. Excellent layering, some medium strong pop outs, very good depth and great composition. And after that there comes even more beautiful 3D scenes which are just fantastic looking! The brightness is good and I didn't notice any conversion errors. Highly recommended to 3D fans - and to everybody else as well. There are couple of scenes that must look very boring and stupid in 2D. Btw, for a big surprise the "after the end credits scene" is also in 3D. Usually those have been in 2D. Of course the middle end credits scene is in 3D too. |

Pitch Meeting is funny but every movie has flaws. If you removed all the flaws because everyone acted sensibly you'd have no movie or the movie would be over in 10 minutes.

sAll Pitch Meeting did was highlight issues you often have when you don't have a singular vision and you try to do too many things at the same time. The previous director did have a singular vision which is likely why he left. This wasn't a couple of reshoots. They effectively reshot the majority of the movie then had to piece together the disparate parts into a coherent hole. Not many movies can recover from that. Maybe Disney should be thankful that it turned out to be not terrible and quite fun.
