Ah, so then the answer is "no", you have never been to a regular cinema just using open captions for all or most of their movies?

I am fearful of big dogs. Like German Shepards. Yet I accept them with no qualms when they accompany their owner into a restaurant because they are Guide Dogs. I watched The Day After Tomorrow, Blitz, and The Desolation of Smaug in foreign theaters with subtitles and barely even noticed them. I wouldn't mind subtitles at all and would probably pick up on some lines that I'd miss otherwise.

Correct. Most changes require dragging people kicking and screaming about their rights or their entitlement. But the changes get made. We have become a global society that caters to all. We shouldn't leave minorities behind. This is 2021 not 1955.

Absolutely. But can cinemas risk putting off hundreds of thousands with open captions? Remember, this is not theatre where captions can be generated electronically above props, lighting, actors heads etc.. It’s captions on a huge screen.

I have. For one specific film. Sound of metal had open captions for many parts. I have experienced it. So do we have a signer in the corner of the screen and descriptive audio to cover all bases? I asked once already. Do we start covering part of the screen for People who prefer sign language? Or descriptive audio for those moments where blind people can’t determine what is happening, certain actions by a character for example? Do we have this the entire film like a talking book? When there is no dialogue, there is descriptive audio.

If so, are people who are not hearing and sight impaired still happy to pay £10.

That is an absolutely different thing, that was a movie specifically about a person experiencing hearing loss and it was done with the deaf and hard of hearing community in mind.

You have NEVER been to a cinema doing open captions for general release movies.

Guess you never went to another country like Italy or France and gone to see a Hollywood movie. Captions are a way of life. They rarely redub them like they used to decades ago.

Director's intent is king. If a director wants the movie shown that way everywhere, he/she can put it on the prints. The artistic vision of the director always should override what the audience wants.
