Finally got it to work properly. This last one is an all time favourite painting because my friend San Julian created it.

Kuma, you put up a TON of ones I love as well! Also, glad to know where Skottie started doing those covers because I'd like to get most of'em. Been collecting his Oz comics from the start!

Here is the GL cover I was talking about. Turns out it wasn't each color's rings, but just the Sinestro Corps:

This was from Free Comic Book Day this year...hyping up the upcoming releases of Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy as a series of two-volume hardcovers:

These aren't as classic as some of the others posted here, but these are a few of my favorites from my collection:

His work is great, super nice guy too. The variant I posted is a bit expensive these days, but it has been going down to about 30 an issue. He's been doing a lot for marvel now. In the past few weeks hes done A+X, Marvel Point one, Red She Hulk, an issue of Oz, and Uncanny Avengers all in baby variants.

I've picked up a TON of the MarvelNOW variants he did...and have to say, if his art wasn't on the cover I wouldn't have even bought them. Not that they're bad, but I just don't have need of a 5th Hulk #1 or what, an 8th Captain America #1? Meh. But his covers were just as fun as they were beautiful in their simplicity.

Matt Wagner's GRENDEL is easily my all-time favorite comic and character. I have nearly everything ever producted of it, whether we're talking comics, figures, lunchboxes - whatever. I tend to have it. With that, here are a few pieces from Grendel that I just love:

Matt write and drew the Batman/Grendel books...just incredible. Get your hands on them if you can find'em!

This one was the beginning of a Dark Horse reprint series that eventually did the entire 40-issue run. I have the original 40...I bought all these too. lol They're all re-colored and look so much better! Plus, Wager did many (if not all, I can't remember at the moment) of the covers this time around. Here is Christine Spar:

For many of the older Hunter Rose versions of the character, Wagner re-colored them in his famous black, white and red and it was cool...but I don't think the original and infinitely more colorful art deco version of Rose's "Devil By The Deed" should have been given that treatment. Looks great as is:

One last Hunter Rose pin up for the fun of it!

Yeah Jae Lee is a fantastic artist. He was just at a buddy's comic shop down in the Baltimore area. Wish I could have made it to nab a sketch!

That book is a pretty good read too. Our Worlds at War was a pretty cool crossover for the most part, as I remember.

I think overall, it's a bit weak compared to many other big events books that came later in the decade (though the art is great), but it was responsible for giving me my second wind as a comics fan. My first one was around the time of Death of Superman when I was 7, so when OWAT hit, I was a freshman in high school. Then became really immersed again in my early 20's with the popularity of Dark Knight hitting. I've pretty much stuck with it since. With the ability to read everything digitally now, there's really no excuse not to.
