It appears the contrast at lower ADL (1 to 20% if I recall reading) is about double for the RS4100 vs the RS3000, so that is a plus that should help RS3100 owners since they share the same new optical block.

I still have a pre-order for the RS2100, but haven't ruled out the RS1000 or RS2000 yet. Still deciding on price difference. Not sure if laser dimming will be bothersome to me (occasional quirks, etc.) and I don't put a ton of hours on my projector (only at 2650 on my RS440 at four years).

I did own the Epson LS10000 at one time and never saw sparkle.

Does anyone know if the JVC will do 4K 3D ?

I guess I'm about to read through the manual for the NX8 and try to find the info. Page 95 of the manual I found says in 3D mode the projector is limited to 4K. Sounds good.

If I can back up my 3D BD as full frame SBS then I'll order the 3D attachment.

My current projector does 3D but only on 1080p modes.

Edit - Apparently it only accepts 1080p 3D signals. Bummer. Still .... I wonder it it works anyhow.

It will do 3D but like all JVC projectors for the last several generations the user needs the RF emitter for the glasses to work. They also use to have an IR emitter but I don’t think that’s easy to find anymore.

The JVC RF emitter will work with the XPand RF glasses which are significantly cheaper than the JVC branded glasses but be aware that the due to the design of the projectors polarization filters they are 90degrees out of phase compared to what is considered standard. If you have a high gain screen there’s a strong likelihood the screen will retain some of the light polarization that it may cause compatibility issues with the standard Xpand glasses. The JVC glasses are made by Xpand but they’re made with their polarization filters so they line up with the JVC projector’s filter. If you just have a white matte screen with unity gain then the standard Xpand glasses work fine.

I’m assuming the native 4K models will upscale the 3D to 4K.

All consumer 3D projectors are limited to native 1080P and then if its a 4K model will upscale to 4K.

The BDA has not released a 4K Blu-ray 3D format and consumer 3D is limited to 1080P.

Awesome. I've pretty much decided I am going forward with the NZ7/RS2100.

My dealer just told me he's expecting my RS3100 in 10-14 days as far as he's been told.

I did think I might get it before Christmas but I am not sure now.

I have mixed feelings about this because I want it now but the longer it takes the longer it stays "new" I guess..... Mostly I just want it NOW !!!!! People coming to visit me for Christmas want to check it out too.

I bought a cheap Black Friday Gateway laptop expressly for the AutoCal software from JVC and I think it can be used with my i1 pro rev D spectro AND/OR my i1d3 because I have the DLL that tells AutoCAD my i1d3 is a SpyderX. (It supports i1 pro 2 but I don't think it works with the i1 pro original or i1 pro 3.)

I guess I'll calibrate SDR using that laptop on my projector today. My current 4K projector really only does well with SDR ... It supports HDR but not without adjusting it for the black level of every particular movie and I just find it better to feed it SDR.

How to Calibrate HDR - I never really figured it out yet but I'm thinking the JVC AutoCal should do a good job for HDR10. I'm looking forward to trying that out.

There's some discussion over at AVS, but being laser means something like a Jeti spectro is needed for absolute accuracy, but there is some conversation on how to do conversion for other meters.

Those guys have it ALL figured out mostly without seeing the projector.

Waiting has been rough on them.

(I'm one of those guys too.)

Amazing huh! Thatís the reason I almost never posted anything there. Too many keyboard experts giving baseless opinions.

I use my regular sensors to calibrate laser projectors for commercial cinemas and home for years with no problem. No Jeti necessary. Will it be better with Jeti? Perhaps. But definitely NOT a must.

On December 1st 2021 Sound and Vision magazine published a professional review on the top of the line JVC DLA-NZ9 projector that was just released (some places are backordered).
