This wave was a bust for me. Went to 7 different stores and none of the more desirable titles were available on either blu or dvd. Quantity was also much less than some of the stores posted in this thread.

Stopped by a DT that is outside my area and found an end cap full of movies. Mainly DVD but some Blu-Rays.

Picked up:

Downsizing, The Gambler and Fences had UV codes. One Bak 2 had an expired Vudu code that still worked!

Also found a Gumby Christmas DVD with a slipcover.

She was going through each box, picking out what she wanted and setting it aside, and also calling over to the cashier asking if she wanted a copy of various movies. She wouldn’t let me see anything until she was done pilfering. Annoying, but fair enough, assuming she’s going to pay for them. She did not, however, want to let me anywhere near the unopened boxes. Said it was “against store policy” for me to open them. Again, fair enough. I asked her to cut open all the boxes at once (instead of one by one) and let me look. Again I was told “against store policy”. So, I just stood there and waited while she (slowly) opened and picked through each box.

The second time (at a different store), the boxes were sitting on a cart by the weekly wow bin. So I just started opening the tape on the boxes and looking for blus in each one. I got through a couple of boxes before the cashier came and pushed the cart away saying “these aren’t supposed to be put out yet.” I suspect she also wanted to have first dibs.

I had this happen at a store last night to me as well. I went in and there was four employees going through opening the boxes and pulling out what they wanted first before making the endcap up. One had one of those green shopping baskets full of movies. Another I heard say she had 12 movies set aside. So I didn't get to see them till they picked out all they wanted. I was able to get the following

If it's anything like last year, DT will repopulate the movies with new boxes of the same stuff.

I stopped by three stores (including jackpot store), but only one of them had new stuff out. Jackpot store was still packed from previous waves, with just a couple of new titles here and there, but not much. I didn't pick up anything.

I learned some DT stores are closed tomorrow depending on the shopping center's policy. I never knew the property owner dictated the hours of an outdoor shopping center where there are no doors or gates. (Some may call them strip malls that you find on the corners of many major intersections.)

I checked with several stores to find out which ones got BF movies in. The results are not good. Only 3 out of 7 know they have movies and only 2 know they'll go out on Friday. The other isn't sure yet. The other 4 out of 7 said they are still waiting on their shipment or are going through it now.

A manager at 1 store I often chat with told me he got 10 boxes but the assortment codes on the sides were the same on most of them, so he only got 3 unique assortments. He said he looked through them and there are very few Blurays (most likely the same 5 that I and others in the west saw): Blue Jasmine, Freakonomics, Anchorman, and 2 others that slipped my mind.

My opinion: I think the trucking shortages/delays means some DTs may not have any movies out for BF, and those that do might only have a few unique boxes, so I'm expecting mostly duplicates and no new Blurays. I've adjusted my expectations to finding very little. I will go to only a handful of DTs that are close to each other on BF and probably call it a day. I don't believe this wave will be worth lots of driving around due to all the repeats and duplicate boxes.

Finally, does anyone know how many different box assortments there are? I know they go up to at least the letter E. Does every assortment with the same letter contain the exact same movies? I know the duplicate boxes I saw at 1 store had the same movies in the exact same order, but I forgot to make a note of the assortment letters.

Well I just had a very interesting trip to the Dollar Tree. I went over to the electronics section and saw a woman organizing the area where they usually put movies. I asked if they were putting any new ones out today. She stood up and said "Yup! Follow me." I then followed her a couple isles over where there were maybe ten boxes of movies stacked. She said, "Grab a couple boxes and bring them over to the electronics isle." I proceeded to help her move all the boxes over to the electronics isle. I then helped her open all of them, and started stacking blurays with the blurays, as they were all mismatched of course. After I grabbed what I wanted, she laughed and said "Wow. Thanks for all your help!" Wished her happy holidays and I was on my way. A few minutes of easy physical labor in exchange for pick of the litter? Sounds good to me! It was pretty hilarious. Picked up Suburbicon, Tammy, Keanu, and Downsizing.

Lotta these titles been at Big Lots. Regret buying Fences some months back. Downsizing was worth the 3 bucks, but it showing up at DT bums me out. Those extra 2 bucks coulda been in my pocket. (I’m a tight ass with my money!)

I wonder if there will be any loose one offs like the past 2 years. The first BF Wave was the best because there were lots of good titles. Last year was a step down and this year looks the same. At least it’s not like the past few Waves with weak or no titles even showing up. Anything beats Echo Bridge exclusives though.

edit - actually, last year was decent, but not like the first. From the looks of it, This BF Wave is the step down.

My store had an insane number of Downsizing, a good amount of Star Trek II director's cut, a few Mexican Going In Style, 3 copies of Battlestar Galactica 4.5 Blu-Ray, 1 copy of Dinner for Schmucks, 1 Ong Bak 2, and only 1 - 3 copies of each RLJE title. No other Star Treks or big name titles. There must have been 4 or 5 boxes of nothing but the MGM DVDs.

I'm glad you had a good experience, but technically she broke a corporate rule about letting customers help and could've gotten in trouble. I know because in the beginning of DT movies long ago, a few times employees let me help put them out (nothing more than taking them out of the boxes and putting them into the table). Not long after when I offered, I was told it's against policy because if a customer gets hurt, then the store could get sued. So as much as I've wanted to help them (especially when they're busy), I haven't been allowed to for years and I don't offer/ask any more. When they're done, out of habit, I always put the Blurays all together, but that's it.

Judging by what I've heard so far, that particular box with all those Blurays (I believe it would have an assortment letter label on the side... don't suppose anyone knows it?) seems to be scarce in my area (the west). I honestly don't expect to see any of those movies on BF.

I went to a store today and they had their movies in the Item of the Week display. Mostly the same stuff as the other stores I visited, but I did pick up these four:

Lassie has a really nice embossed slipcover. I haven't seen it, but I like the other 90s film adaptations of classic 50s/60s shows: Dennis the Menace, Flipper, Leave it to Beaver.

Another week and more boxes.
Most stores will receive replenishment of this endcap early on. So, check back every week.

Nothing but Bare bones MGM titles. Multiple copies of each.

And then, there was this lone copy I found:

Hopefully the restocks are just DVDs. Would be a nice way to save gas!

Probably the same ones Best Buy said were happy about all their changes to the rewards program over the years.
