Default Xenoblade Chronicles 3

With a brand-new story that ties together the futures of the worlds depicted in Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will launch for #NintendoSwitch this September!

Day 1. Loved 2 so much and the DLC was fantastic.

So the rumors were at least partially true.

I need to play the first two. I've had them on my list for years and never got around to it. Hopefully I'll get to it before this one is out in September. The next couple of weeks are looking ridiculous for me though, so it won't be any time soon. Elden Ring, Stranger of Paradise, Kirby and possibly Triangle Strategy all while I'm still playing Legends Arceus.

They definitely aren’t for everyone but if the combat clicks for you they are fantastic games. XC2 is probably in my top 10 games of all time because I loved the story. I just wish the visuals were better but it more than makes up for that and its other shortcomings in sheer amount of content to play through.

I liked 1, but LOVED 2. Definitely hoping this one is more like 2 than 1

Rewatched the trailer and if its any indication of the final product it seems like the visuals are a big step up from 2 and even Torna.

This guy noticed that the shots from the trailer and the official screenshots on Nintendo's site look quite different in some instances. Looks like the screenshots are sourced from a later build of the game with changes to lighting, environments and some appearing a good bit sharper. Trailer images are first, screenshots second.

Or is one set docked and one portable?

That would only address one being sharper than the other not the other changes. But I also highly doubt Nintendo would use handheld captured footage for a trailer, especially a reveal trailer.

Unless I'm missing something it absolutely does. From what I can see the less sharp screens have missing or worse textures and slightly less geometry which is on point with what the Switch usually does across portable and handheld modes.

I play 100% docked but I assumed handheld mode would just be lower resolution not reworked foliage, landscapes and such, but sounds like that does happen in some games based on your statement.

I still don’t think its the case here though given that even the trailer footage looks much better than Xenoblade 2 in docked mode. But I suppose its possible given engine improvements and a non rushed development time.

This looks great, but I refuse to buy another Xenoblade that I don’t play, I’ll try to play 1 and 2 later this year

If you want to just get them out of the way the easy modes on 1 and 2 really negate any grinding. Still took me about 50 hours to beat DE but I was doing a lot of side quests.

I had Definitive Edition finished in right around 50 hours not counting Future Connected, which added an extra 8. I barely did any of the side quests. If I didn't run into them on my way to what I was doing then I didn't bother.

Is FC worth it? I only met the Nipon kids and didn't pick it back up yet.

DE took me 75 hours to complete the story and all side quests including rebuilding Colony 6. 2 took around 95 hours for story and all side quests plus some blade specific quests. I eventually clocked about 130 hours I think it was going for more blade quests. Time can vary on that one a good bit due to the RNG blade system if you’re going for completion.

Torna is roughly a 20-30 hour game in itself.

The developers claim it sets the stage for tying the worlds together or something but I don’t see how. Maybe that claim will make sense when 3 is released.

Thanks for this. I have it but haven't gotten around to it yet. Good to have an estimate.

The inconvenience about Torna is you have no choice but to complete all side quests to finish the main story. Which isn’t a problem for me since that’s how I play but its annoying on a replay.
