Default Does Anyone have a Full HD camcorder here / Experience? (No clue where to post)

Heya,
I really would like to get a 1080p camcorder. I have thrown my eye on the Sony HDR-SR12 (would kind of match considering that I already have the XBR4 52" lol).

However, I have no clues about camcorders and it would be my first one. The reviews about the cam are pretty good (it even records in 5.1 sound).

Can someone share this experience? Or about 1080p cams? Does the pq is really (or almost) as sharp as a BR?

What's a good price for it? The lowest so far has been around $850 with stores which have high ratings and can be trusted. There are several stores whoch oer it around $500 but who are pretty obvious scams and just want to steel your money.

Sorry didn't know where else to post this topic.

I have one from JVC and yes the PQ ia amazing. I also do amateur editing, and want to get a BD burner so I can transfer in HD. Keep in mind you can get one with the hard drive or one that will burn it straight to the disk. If you have no way to transfer then get one with the disk, if you can transfer make sure your source is also HD otherwise what is the point.

What do I need for transferring it?
Can I burn 1080p on a DVD? I was assuming that the main problem of the DVD was space. My point is, that I would have only around 5-10 GB for 1080p (how much would that be? 30 min of video time?).

Or could I get an external hard disc with 1 TB and attach it to the PS3 for saving the videos on it?

I am kind of lost.

I have an HD camcorder.... not sure of the resolution (By the way "Full HD" is marketing B.S.) I don't have it in front of me right now, but it was a gift from my sis.... I'm sure I don't use it to its full potential though, that's for sure!!!

It also won't matter what brand you get...... the "Sports are shot on a sony, so you should watch them on a sony" campaign is every bit as ridiculous as the "FULL HD" bit....

Sorry I can't help with more particulars on a camcorder, but I wouldn't limit yourself to one brand.

I just received from UPS yesterday the Sony sr11 which is the same as the sr12 but with half the size hard drive. Both are 1080i, not 1080p. I will be taking mine to Disneyland in a few weeks and put it to the test and can report more on the quality about 3 or 4 weeks from now. The HD (AVCHD) format when burned to DVD needs a HD player like Blu-Ray to play that disc. I bought my camcorder from Abe's of Maine for $730.
