Yeah, for Nintendo it's every 5-6 years:

1985: Nintendo Entertainment System

1991: Super Nintendo Entertainment System

1996: Nintendo 64

2001: Nintendo Gamecube

2006: Nintendo Wii

Ironically, the preceding post was a necropost about a system that is dying/dead.

Cool

yeah tell me about it, i heard they stopped making games for it like 2 years ago and i had no idea! now i heard when the PS2 was going to stop making games and also i think the PS1 as well. and i remember when the gamecube was stopping production as well. but i don't remember hearing about the wii stopping making games sadly.

thank god they are still making it for the 3DS! since i have one and i love it. i hope the next counsel actually isn't just some stupid remote like the Wii U and this one is. it actually has a controller that's how i like it.

the wii isn't a bad system either. it's a terrible name though and i like buying the games on a medium plus also buying the cartridge as i don't play games online i hope it stays where we can have the option of doing either.

Funny to read this now. After Project Zero 5 was released. Literally the only survival horror game this generation

I know I know its super old.

I'm happy that Nintendo got the rights. Other companies would have made Project Zero an action title and/or killed it (see Resident Evil, see Siren series)

It's not really possible to play Rock Band without looking ridiculous, but it's still a blast.

The Wii U virtual console is alive and well if you were thinking nintendo shut it down? I buy games on it way too often. Just trying to do my part to keep nintendo in business lol just take my money!

Wii console is very much alive at my house. My 15 year old twin nephews and brother come over often to play Rockband and Guitar Hero. I have all of the games, several drum sets and many guitars.
In fact I brought over extra drums & guitars to my folks house for when we are all over there for a gathering (I bought them a Wii years ago when I found out they were being discontinued)
I can say that playing Guitar Hero Metallica as a full band in my living room has made some of the happiest memories.
What I particularly love about this console is that someone like me, not good at games, can still join in and have fun (I weld the mic for the music games)
Even my 78 year old mom enjoys bowling.

That is probably the very reason why some dislike the Wii - that it is not for "hard core" gamers. But it makes for a great party console IMHO
