Default Is it normal for iPhone battery sensor to be thrown off during cold weather?

I was using my iPhone outside for directions and it was 80 percent battery life. It was 20 degrees and windy. After being exposed for about 10 minutes in the cold, my phone showed 10 percent battery and then shut off and wouldn’t turn on. I finally walked into a heated room and my phone finally turned on and went back to 80 percent battery. Is this normal or does my phone need to be checked?

Yeah, I spoke with an Apple rep and they told me the same thing. Looks like Apple makes cheap junk then. My friend has a Samsung phone and uses it all the time during cold weather and never has an issue.
