My neighbor has a Sony XBR 85X900F. She has owned it for about a year and a half. Purchased it brand new and had it calibrated.
About 6 months ago she noticed a small light brown (possibly light gray) spot about 1/4" on the panel. What has caused this? Any cure? Can the panel be "cleaned" like one can do with an OLED that has a slight burn-in? Or nothing can be done, live with it? |

Jim, I know it's been a while since you posted your message, but I just came across it today. I have the X900F and have the same problem. My TV has a dark spot (looks like a gray dot with a light "X" going through it) about 1/3 from the top-center of the screen.
My most recent Sony experience began a few years back with a 900E. And that one had a similar issue. I was able to exchange the set with Sony, and the second one was even worse - it had 2 dark spots! I contacted Sony again and they offered another exchange, this time for a 900F. And wouldn't you know, there were 2 dark spots on that one. Finally they agreed to an exchange of that unit, but my current 900F has the issue that I described above. I don't believe that it's a dead or stuck pixel. I'm inclined to believe that something internal is damaged. It's really annoying because I know that it's there and I'm always looking for it. At times I wonder if I've been too picky because I've heard of TV's having other major problems. Outside of the dark spot, it's a great TV. But after more than 3 years (and 4 similar sets) of dealing with it, I'm considering buying a new TV. The experience has made me cautious of another Sony due to the dark spot issue. |

rtorres481 Thanks for the post. I have tried everything along with Robert of Value Electronics. Nothing has worked. It doesn't seem to be growing, moving or getting worse. I agree with you that it is something internal. I was helping my neighbor. It was her TV. She didn't like seeing the spot but since I posted the above, she has passed away and the set will now be sold to a neighbor across the street. In away that is a good thing. He is getting (like you said) a great TV for a cheap price and he is partially blind and will never notice that spot like you and I would/do. |

Thanks, Robert I live in a senior citizen community and I have been here 20 years and during that time, I have seen many neighbors pass away Before my time, I hope to see your store. I want to bring in a Subway sandwich, sit in a fine chair and watch a great movie on your biggest, bestest TV ![]() |

Never buying a Sony TV again. As far as LED's were concerned, I decided to stop spending so much money on Sony's high end and went with a Vizio instead. Second large screen Vizio in my home and while the uniformity isn't perfect on either, it's pretty negligible 99.8 percent of the time. Best bang for my dollar. |
