Default Ultimate Wii Beginners Guide

New to Wii? Here are some components when making your decision on the New Console and the Accessories you need to make it happen.

Of Course you need the Console:
Wii Console

Now the Wii comes with one Wii remote and one Wii Nunchuck, so you will eventually need additional controllers for multiplayer games however the Wii Sports game can be played by sharing the controllers

Some useful Accessories are:

  • Wii Play comes with 10 Mini Games and a Wii Remote with jacket. Those Games include:
    • Shooting Range, a point-and-fire game of target practice in the Duck Hunt tradition
    • Billiards, a simplified variation of nine-ball with stunningly realistic physics that uses your Wii Remote as your pool cue
    • Find Mii, in which you scan the crowds to find the right Mii - Miis you and your friends created make an appearance
    • Tanks!, where you command a toy tank on a miniature battlefield in a gauntlet of 100 missions
    • Other games include Pose Mii, Table Tennis, Fishing, Charge! and Laser Hockey
  • Official Nintendo Wii Wheel- Great for use with Mario Kart and other race oriented Games
  • 2000 Wii Points - Allows you to purchase and download games for the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console. There are hundreds of games to choose from, including games from classic systems like NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, and Turbo Grafx-16.
Some 'Must Have' Games:

Fitness Oriented?
Grab a Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board and there are a dozen games that add on to this balance board component

Great idea for a thread, OP.

What are people's thoughts on the motion plus sensor for the Wii Remote? Does it really add that much more to the experience? Or can u live without it?

I just got the Mario anniversary Wii edition where it's all red. with the new Mario game. I notice there's ports for the Gamecube controllers. don't know much about the Wii but I got it at a good deal with some older games. Do you just pop in a gamecube disc in the wii and it will play? i would like to play some old Gamecube games.

Yup. SUPER easy.

If the Wii U doesn't have backwards compatibility for all my Gamecube titles, I'll be

Not sure if this the correct place to ask, but I didn't feel it needed a new thread (maybe it does?)

But, where can I get Nintendo brand GC controllers? Just bought a Wii off my friend and I want a GC controller for Brawl and Melee

Thanks in advance!

I recently pulled out my Wii console from the closet and set it up.

I just started playing for the first time.

I’m having some difficulty in using the nunchuck controllers and needing familiarity with the button layout.

I’ve been playing this game for at least 2 weeks now. Bosses are difficult, but overall the game is so much fun!

Reviving this thread...

I totally recommend buying a Wii Classic Controller over the Wii Classic Controller Pro because the first one has analog trigger while the second revision has digital triggers (I can't tell you how much I hate digital triggers) and it can be used to play GameCube games.

[Show spoiler]

If you're not a fan of the cable coming out the bottom, then you can perhaps do a simple DYI yourself with opening the controller, using a metal scalpel to cut plastic inside to make way for it and then comes thru the top.

Yes, GCN games though the system has to be modified so it's recognized as such as this beats buying the GCN Wavebird controller (I had one and never liked it too much, it was too big without much going for it).

The main problem with the WCC is that the d-pad and analog sticks tend to get very yellowed or dirty, sometimes due to usage while others due to filthy hands. But when it's all white, damn, it looks really adorable and not many controllers can be called adorable.
