It's possible that you have a black crush issue. That is one of the known shortcomings of the TCL mini LEDs.

In the meantime, check the Rtngs settings link that was previously provided and change all your settings to match it. Keep in mind that you have to do it separately for SDR, HDR10 and Dolby Vision. And then separately again for each source (RokuTV apps, OTA TV, each external device)

Not sure if this will work but are you following any movies under the "My Feed" section? If so, try removing them. I'm not sure if there is a global setting to not follow any movies but you might want to poke around there.

So I have the 55S425 in my bedroom and its been giving me problems with apps recently. It started a couple of weeks ago with Hulu where it would would attempt to load the app and then just refresh back to the home screen. Tonight with HBO Max when I get to the profile select screen, it will not enter into the anything I select and now it's doing the exact thing as Hulu where it's refreshing back to the home screen. I've updated ,I've uninstalled and reinstalled. Prime is also affected. Has anyone else run into this problem?

Hello, the 5.1 stopped working while streaming through my set:

https://www.amazon.com/TCL-65S403-UH...3182191&sr=8-5

I've tried everything, but I only get basic 2.0 for services like Netflix, Prime and Disney+. What settings/inputs do I need to use? I don't recall touching ANY of my settings, but the 5.1 just plain stopped working a few days ago. It works only when watching discs or streaming through my UHD player. Help...!

What’s a good 4K Blu-ray player to get for a TCL? And can you get turn off HDR and Dolby Vision on a 4K Blu-ray player? When I stream stuff with HDR or DV on my TCL 6 Series the picture is very dark and you can’t turn off HDR on this TV. Various sites say you can turn it off on the secret menu but my secret menu doesn’t have that option. But if I can stream stuff from apps using a 4K player and turn off HDR on the player, that would be a nice solution.

Maybe the tv had an update, and it changed the audio settings. Go into your audio setup menu to see if dolby digital is still enabled.

Recently my TCL has started turning on by itself. Not what the reason might be. The power button on the remote isn’t stuck, the batteries aren’t low, there’s no timer or clock setting that would make it turn on. Anyone have any suggestions?

Check other IR devices in your house. It could be a situation where 2 different remotes share the same IR wavelength and you're turning your TV on by accident when trying to control a completely different device. It happened to me with a set of cheap battery operated fake candles once.

It usually happens in the middle of the night or really early in the morning when no other devices are being used.

Possible fixes:
  • Remove the batteries from the remote and see if the issue persists, this will rule out the remote.
  • Disable the screen saver, sounds counter-intuitive but others reported this working.
  • Disable HDMI-CEC in the settings, this is what allows other devices connected via HDMI to turn the TV on, it may be a game console or other device briefly turning on to check for updates causing this.
  • Try unplugging the TV for a few minutes then plug it back in. If you live in a cold climate the low humidity in winter can cause electronics to behave screwy. If this is it a humidifier may be needed in winter.

Check the power connection to the TV.

If there is a temporary power sag (dip), the TV could be responding as if it was just plugged in.

This happens to my Sharp TV on occasion when the power to my house has has a temporary sag due to weather conditions that affect the power grid.

I disabled the screensaver and for the last few days my TV has stopped turning on by itself. Thanks!
