Been a while, glad to see you around and also see updated pics of your gear . I haven't been around here much myself the last couple of years, but I started getting active again the last few days.

Glad to see the Rockets are still in place. Hope you're still enjoying them!

Dude, you have no idea. I was laying low from around 2014 to 2020, but then from the beginning of 2020 to until recently, life hit hard:

1. Got into serious financial debt in 2020
2. My mom passed away in 2021
3. My wife asked for a divorce in 2021
4. Had to move in with my dad, 2 hrs away from my kids in 2021
5. Had to put all of my HT equipment in my signature into storage in 2021
6. Lost my job in 2022

After hitting the low point in early 2022 when I lost my job, I was able to crawl out from under the rock in the last year:

1. Paid off all debt and now I am 100% completely debt free (thanks to living with my dad and saving my money to pay off the debts)
2. Got a new job that pays more $$ with OT available, along with better/more benefits and I work from home 2-3 days a week
3. Was able to put down money to have a townhouse built and will be moving into my new place in July
4. My son will then be moving in and living with me in July as well

So, the new place will be built by July and I get to set up my HT again, but without worrying about getting the wife's blessing about what I can buy or where to put it. This new found freedom is awesome. I could not be happier.

How are things with you?

^^ Damn son, that was really a long stretch of bad luck. However, it looks like things are looking good for you now.

I have had a bit of bad luck too. I became disabled and lost the ability to work anymore in Dec 2019 after falling hard twice. I had blood getting into my spinal canal and it caused severe nerve damage, which caused me to lose my sense of balance. I also have those pins and needles sensation in my legs and feet non-stop 24/7, still to this date, even after having surgery.

I did have to replace my 70" Sharp 3D display because the IR sensor would not work. Sure, I could have had it repair but decided to move to a 4K display and bought a Sony last November 2021.

I hope you continue to have better luck going forward.

Looking forward to seeing pics of your new place after you move in.

Wow...the only thing that continues to be good for me is my health. So, can you not find a job to work from home since you have balance issues? Will that feeling in your legs dissipate over more time or you just don't know if/when it will?

I am finally getting into 4K/HDMI 2.1 myself for the new home. Looking at getting a 65" LG G2 OLED TV, along with a Pioneer VSX-LX305 AVR and a Panasonic DP-UB820 Player to go with the TV. After no equipment upgrades for over 12 years, I would say it is time.

I also have issues with sitting for any length of time and difficulty concentrating due to the pain I have. I got a lawyer to represent me and filed for SS and was approved immediately based on the doctors' assessment of my condition after surgery. The surgery that was done was only to stop me from becoming completely paralyze, but not to necessarily make me better. Luckily, I'm getting better payments from SS, based on my disability than if I had just retired.

What made you decide on the Pioneer? I also need to purchase a newer 4k capable AVR. I'm currently doing the split output, video direct to the Sony and audio to my current Denon. I would love to get the newest Marantz Cinema series AVR but they are slightly out of my budget.

Happy you are living comfortably with the SS.....but you paid a heavy price. Keep your head up and I wish you nothing but good health.

I went with the Pioneer because I have had my Pioneer SC-05 for 12 years. I love their sound and it was a workhorse. Never had one issue with it for those 12 years and it was used around 6-10 hours a day. I am also looking at a new McIntosh dedicated AVR....appears they may be entering the market again in March and the specs look very similar to the Pioneer. However, no price point is available yet......

Wow, that’s a little more than my message about being exhausted of the rut I’m in. Who knows the wife could ask for a divorce to. I mean this is just my first marriage; it’s gotta be close to time.

We were married 17 years, 2 kids. But this happened 2 years ago and I have had lots of time to think and figure things out. Now, I am better for the experience and as you can see, free to do lots of things that in the past, would have needed the WAF to be considered. But not now!

Hope you do......any projector upgrade has to go on the backburner for me. As far as marriage, we actually get along better now than when we were married. Funny how that works when you can do what you want with your own money earned and so can she.

As I am looking and making decisions on what new HT equipment I want and how much I want to spend, I keep finding myself asking how I am going to tell the wife.....then I remember, I don't have to! That feeling and the freedom that comes with it is a revelation. No more WAF (wife approval factor)! LOL!

Hey guys....I have a request concerning the build of my new townhouse......I am meeting the Project Manager on Tuesday (2/7) to go over the build, and this is the time I can tell the builder what and where I want something done cosmetically with the inside of the house. This is a development builder, so they are building lots of home simultaneously which are in different stages.

I will be making sure they put an ethernet connection next to the plug on the wall where my TV is going to go, including in my office upstairs. I was also going to ask how or what is involved in setting up speaker terminals in the side walls for my surrounds. Having the wires run behind the drywall and set up prior to completion would be great, but I know not all builders will allow that or there may add additional fees added to the price of the home for doing so.

Therefore, please provide any additional things I could ask the project manager to do in regards to the HT build. Thanks.

I thought it was Hammie, but don’t see it in the gallery who had really nice wire management. https://www.blu-ray.com/community/ga...&folderid=2477

I’ve always wished I had some plates. In Taiwan the walls are concrete and gotta run those plastic raceways.
