i have wanted to get this for a while and now that its black and has the extras i want it even more i hope to pick it up in a few weeks. Everyone i know that has it really seems to enjoy it.

I'm probably going to get one of these soon (this weekend maybe) but I have a question. Does it have a optical out for audio or does it all run through the AV cable?

It's the same as the original Wii... just black, so no optical output, just the stereo RCA cables.

I have the component cables..official nintendo ones...i highly recommend them..they make a difference to me and the games look better...i paid 34.99 but it was worth it. where its not going to look as good as 360 or ps3...it makes the picture clearer..the audio is better...and it cleans up any jagged objects or what not....try it out..you can get it at best buy...and if you dont like it return it...they also have the off brand ones for cheap on amazon and ebay...i havent tried those..i usually stick to the official stuff to play it safe.

Uhhh, the audio isn't any better with component cables, as it still uses the same type of stereo RCA cables for sound...

Well for some reason when i had the cables that came with the wii it sounded different...maybe its just me..there is a definate difference in picture tho.

the RocketFish one I got from BB was about 20 bucks. Nicely built cable actually.

I'm thinking of buying one just because the rest of my home entertainment center is black and the white Wii sticks out. Ya... I have OCD issues. I guess I could put the white Wii in my other room to justify the purchase.

I don't know a lot about the Nintendo Wii system.

I want to buy one that me and my kids can play our old gamecube games on

IS this model of Wii in the link able to play gamecube games?
And can I download the old Mario games on this system ?

it appears to some of the later version of the wii dropped gamecube support
from what I read the version of the wii designed to stand up has cube support while the version that lays flat dose not.

best bet to make sure is to pick one up used from gamestop etc,

the above mode is the kind that has no cube support.

the ones that do support the cube the old gamecube controllers plug into them
