Thanks for the kudos but I don't actually create the front cover art. I wish I was that talented. I just find cool movie art and make it into a Criterion. I do try to only use art that Criterion might use. I want to make sure there is a consistent theme to all the ones I do.

Regardless of the front poster, mostly I really like your presentation, and I think that's where your design skills actually matter most anyway. Nice job.
May I repay the compliment, Im. The ornamental flourishes on John Carter and the Looney Tunes covers are sensational. Grade-A work, my friend. My hat's off to you.

The font you asked about is Microsoft Yi Baiti (came preinstalled with Windows7, I believe) stretched horizontally about 170%.

As always, the final design is a result of some back-and forth with the client. The use of the gunbarrel on the top border was the client's request, the curvature and the black steel texture was mine. In the end, two heads are better than one.

What paper do you use to print on? I myself use Canon's Glossy Photo Paper II, which has good quality, but is a bit thicker and rougher than the "official" paper used to print Blu-ray covers on.

Some of you have already received this piece of news in e-mail, but for those hoping for a complete series of Bond covers with original TT's - it is not to be, at least from me.

I am willing to share the PSD template to anyone who wants to attempt to complete the rest.

The economic downturn became personal yesterday with the announcement that my position at work was being eliminated with my company going through a major downsizing.

I therefore really need to devote my time to finding a new job.

I've enjoyed getting to know some really great people over the past year, some very talented individuals, but I will no longer be producing custom covers.

Best wishes to you all.

Holy Shit! I feel for ya my friend, being out of work is nothing no one should experience especially if your used to a certain lifestyle and family commitments that suddenly change in a heartbeat. Hopefully your search won't be to long and you'll bounce back quick. I personally thank you for sharring your gifts of creating memorable blu covers and perhaps once you get your feet back on the ground, you will return to these forums and share once again. But until then, take care and best of luck to you.........

I could kiss you right now. Short of just a plain cover with the emblem and the title on it (with tagline) this is exactly what I was hoping someone would do.

Tell me more about this euphoricfx?

That really sucks. I'm willing to wait for greatness when you come back. Here's wishing you a very short job hunt.

I'm so sorry to hear such a terrible news, Drrn.

You have all my support and all my best wishes for your search to be the shortest possible!
I've been there so hang on, don't lose faith and I'm sure everything will end just fine.

Take care while you're away,

Default James Bond 007 Custom Blu-ray Cover

I have expressed my sympathies to Darren in private, and I'm sure he appreciates all the voices of support he receives in this forum. Unemployment really pulls the rug out from under you big time.

Darren, you'll always be "the Bond guy" to me, inextricably linked in my mind. Come back soon!

Here's my version of The Spy Who Loved Me, and I'm forging ahead with a challenging Dr. No. My client has thrown down the gauntlet with a Dr. No quad poster, so we'll see how I do.

Yes, sad news about Darren's employment situation, hopefully a guy as gracious and generous with his time will have no trouble finding alternative employment.

The Spy Who Loved Me is almost an oddity as a poster it screams science-fiction and Logan's Run very loudly whenever I see it. It's quite a lovely design though.

Default Spider-man Custom Blu-ray covers

These are a recent commission that my client would like me to share. He says he has enjoyed other commissions that have been shared for free, and wants to pass on the good Karma.

He was only interested in replacing his recently aquired standalone covers for Spider-man 1 and 2 (who can blame him?), but opted for a full set for uniformity of packaging. The cover for Spider-man 3 features the extras from the old 2-disc version, so this won't directly replace the covers from the trilogy set.

The concept for these covers were my client's idea, and it was a delight to help him realize his vision. Both he and I are extremely satisfied with the results.

PM me for copies.

Hi! I profusely apologize for the total newbie questions.

I'm an art student and I'm trying to get into my university's graphic design program. I've started dabbling with custom Star Trek movie covers on Photoshop and I have a few questions.

I downloaded a template without a spine. Can anyone point me in the right direction of a good Blu-Ray template with a spine?

Also, can anyone point me in the right direction of one of those cool 3D product shots. They're quite nice.

And is there a good resource for Star Wars posters, publicity stills, HD screencaps, etc.? I use TrekCore for Star Trek stuff and I have yet to see a website as thorough as that one.

Here's what I have so far. The extras ARE NOT representative of the real product. This is my own personal wishlist. The title needs work but it came from the old GNP Crescendo soundtrack album.

Thanks. I've been to originaltrilogy.com before but it can get a bit daunting.

As for green, it's actually closer to a very dark yellow. I'm not sure - I guess I was going for analagous colors but this is all one big R&D project for me. Nothing is set in stone.
