I just finished Section 1 last night. So far I like it a lot. Only a couple of small gripes:
- The parts where it shifts to an over the shoulder view and has you walking real slow are annoying and don't really add that much. - Lame excuse for not being able to use powers. Plus, it's much more satisfying to find a power up hidden somewhere than to just have story-triggered dialogue saying "You're getting your ass kicked. Go ahead and use an ice beam now." - The parts where it automatically shifts into 1st person until you find some clue in the environment is also annoying. Just go right to the cutscene. Other than those very minor gripes, I love the game. It's great to have an old-school Metroid to play again. I still would probably prefer a pure 2D game, but I'm happy with what we got. |

I have to agree with Neo on all his points. To me one of the best things about Metroid was finding the various hidden weapons and abilities which made the game enjoyable and challenging but with M that option isn't there anymore you now have to wait for them to give you the orders to use your weapons which I think is completely idiotic and takes away from this Metroid being a great game. Other than that I am really enjoying the game and have been pleasantly surprised.

I'm towards the end of the second mission and after the start of the game, there don't seem to be as many cutscenes.
There are some hidden items, but because of the linear nature of the game, finding them is not as fun as a traditional 2D Metroid. I am loving the bounty hunter blasting action though. |

I had a blast with the game. I beat it and got 100% of the items, which certainly wasn't as big a deal since there were no weapons to find and all missiles and energy tanks are located on your map (lame). Still, it was a nice throwback to the old days but I got much more out of the Prime series.

Yep, the last three games which where fps. This is good, but it didn't work as well as I had hopped. Trine is on the ps3 and pc, and limbo is on the 360. I'm not sure what consoles you have, but you seem to like puzzle game and side scrollers, of which these are amongst the best imho.

I'm almost done with Other M, it's not fully open until towards the end, but I still am really enjoying the game. Makes me want to pick up a DS Lite so I can play Fusion and Zero Mission again. |

I'm enjoying this game quite a bit. I'm in Sector 3, but there are two things overall that I haven't figured out yet:
1) The hovering things that I should be able to latch onto and swing from (can't remember the exact name) don't work for me. According to the manual, you bring them into focus and press A. Nothing happens, nor with buttons 1, 2, or B. Has anyone had success? 2) I can get to some hidden items by finding a tunnel, shifting into a morph ball, and rolling to the item. However, many of the items don't have any apparent access. For example, in the main stairway at the beginning of Sector 3, there's an object under one staircase. Directly above it is what looks like a hole for the morph ball surrounded by some metal plates. However, I can't find any way to open the hole with the morph ball, shooting, or bombs. Many other objects are visible behind a grate, yet I can't get to them. Thanks for any help you can provide. Doug |

2) Off the top of my head I don't know this one, but if the morph hole is a metal door with a red light, look for a disk on a wall somewhere to charge shoot. Finished my first play through tonight. The story really is throw away, but at least they tried to get strong ties to Super Metroid and Fusion. The action is a lot of fun though. I'll be playing again. I like it I haven't beaten it yet I'm a having a really tough time with it. I'm stuck at a part where there's a huge elevator and some enemy is killing me in 2 shots it's ridiculous.

The one with the two tenticles you fought earlier? the Sensemove is your friend. His pattern is two swipes then you can release the charge shot on him. Once you have frozen the two apendages on top of him, you need to fire a missle at him. Or if he stands up and prepares to fire his beam at you, nail it with a missle. It only takes 2 or 3 to make him run away.
