It's very nice looking in my opinion. I was lucky to get it on ebay with the Happinet (JP) disc inside for around the same price. Best of both worlds.

It has a cool map with all the filming locations of the Dead series mapped out - the rest of the writing is in German unfortunately. It certainly looks nice though!

Is the "Fan of the Dead" documentary on it any good? Er, I guess you might not know, having the Happinet disc...

Ordered the Japan release two days ago and just got shipment notification this morning. They said 4-12 days to receive....let's see if that holds water.

I ordered from cdjapan last summer and I got it in under two weeks (I can't remember the exact timing). I was very surprised with how fast it showed up. Really good packing as well.

I got mine in three business days, but I paid (a very small amount) for faster shipping. It was like $3.

I've heard numerous reports about excellent packing work and how it blows anything we get here in the U.S. out of the water.

Yes, nice thick bubble wrap and a very stiff, sturdy cardboard box.

Perhaps he took a look at it after Don did the work and said, "Looks good!" but he was in no way involved with the reframing/cropping, that was baked into the master that Dimension gave to Don May to work with.

Chris
So, Romero didn't approve the horrendously cropped version after all?

Not much. Most people wouldn't even notice unless you compared it side by side with an uncropped version.

Not bad at all, really. I feel it's been blown out of proportion. The Japanese release is pretty solid all around.

You only notice it when you know the movie by heart.
I realized it when Barbra meets Ben in the house for the first time. At one point, he's sawing off the table's leg and Barbra is in the background. He's speaking to her and she doesn't say much because she's still in shock.
Well, in the cropped version the whole scene loses its point, its interest. You don't see the background anymore because Barbra is cropped out of the frame.
Composition of the frames are a real mess in various spots because of the cropping. In most of the scenes you don't notice it at all.
It's really a matter of memory I guess. If you know the movie by heart, then it's bad. At least to me.

Technically speaking there are no comparisons possible 'though. It's day and night.
So it's why I think it's just too bad
