Scorsese and Romero both seem to have good working relationships with CC, so let's hope so. Maybe they can release Martin while they're at it.

I agree. Scream would be number two on the list. I think it'll come down to money and Criterion has more than SF, but anything's possible.
I can't imagine the amount of complaining that would happen if they were to announce it. People would flip their lids. |

For it to be the definitive NOTLD release it would have to contain:
The theatrical cut in 1.85:1 The theatrical cut in 1.66:1 The resurfaced scene cut into the movie (if Romero wants it, if not then included as a deleted scene) The extras on the Happinet Blu-ray Restoration featurette New interviews Don't care if these are included but it would make it definitive: 1.33:1 version Colorized version |

It's not like any of the current releases have an intact open matte presentation anyway. All the versions I've seen have significant cropping at the sides compared to theatrical prints. As long as we get a widescreen release with no cropping at the sides, I'll be happy. Just like with the Kubrick collection, 4:3 is no longer necessary for movies originally shown in widescreen since nowadays most of us have 16:9 television sets, but if it is indeed Romero's preferred ratio then it should be included. |
