I consider it dead. I haven't played it in months. Nintendo is definitely focusing more on the 3DS.

i haven't played it that much recently to be honest. i've been playing my "Ratchet & Clank": tools of Destruction" which i've already beat & i'm playing it again! i'm also playing better at it oddly.
but i do agree that nintendo SHOULD STOP making so many damn systems.

& SO MUCH SOFTWARE! buy this or that. focus on putting good games out. i've always thought it was REALLY REALLY EXTREMLY STUPID to put a system out every damn 5 years! no matter if it was a hand-held game or a console.

though i have no desire to buy an X-box i can say that i respect them for taking their time in putting out their next system. though i think they are working on the next one. i dunno if that info is right or not? i don't follow X-box. & well with the PS3 well Sony i mean. at least they focus on all their systems. may it be the new one the VITA, or the PS3 or the other hand held system who's name escapes me at the moment.

yea the wii has a LOT of games on it. don't get me wrong. but the graphics aren't that great on some of them. & if they want to make me happy. at least create something that i can plug my controller in so i can recharge it. just don't sell it at no price such as $50 bucks!

It still amazes me, that Wii Sports was the game to beat the sales figures of the original "Super Mario Bros.". Of all the titles out there, why an exercise game? No offense, but if I want my heart rate to go up, I'll go outside and run, or head to a gym. I'm not looking to use video games as a form of health improvement.

As for games made for the Wii, there aren't a lot that interest me, other than sequels to popular retro franchises (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Punch-Out, etc.). The system came out over 5 years ago, and I still don't have one (been considering it recently, though). I'm just not big on all the "motion control" nonsense; give me a standard "D-pad" controller any day.

It's because like Super Mario Brothers, it was packed in to all the consoles sold.
Also - the Wiimote *IS* as standard D-pad controller...

I believe Mario Party 9 is the last major first party release for the Wii by Nintendo with The Last Story being the last third-party game for the Wii. The Wii section at retail stores is already noticeably shrinking fast.

The sales slowdown is understandable, since Wii U is only six to eight months away. The PS2 did extremely well when the 360 and PS3 came out because the first Xbox and Gamecube never came close to it in popularity, which made it the default choice for families and others who didn't want to pay $400 (or $600) for a new system. This time around, the PS3 and 360 have all the support and actually represent a more appealing option than the first-place Wii to many gamers. I'm sure the Wii U will do fine, though.

Oddly enough, my 13 year old cousin bought a Wii last year and now he wants a PS3. What the heck? Is he not happy with the Wii?

As long as there are multiple consoles there are going to be people who want to play on multiple consoles. It's not like 100% of available games are available on any one console.

oh i have 11 systems in all. & i sometimes play my older systems every now & than. weather it's my good old fashioned "NES" or my PS3 or hell even my own Wii. but someone lent me Mario 64 for the DS lately so i've been playing that actually. it's different but that's ok. only cuz i'm used to the original 64 version for my Nintendo 64. that's all

Heck, the PS2 still gets a few releases per year. The Wii is dead and really has been for a while except for the few families that still use theirs for "game night." It's motion controls were a novelty, though still innovative, that have more or less worn off. It was marketed brilliantly the first few years, but Sony and Microsoft have much better systems with their own movement perephrials. My six year old won't even use it and plays the PS3. It's only use for me is a Netflix box right now.

Haha I just got the same Wii two days ago.

I'm not a Wii fan, more of a PS3 fan. But I have a family of my own. I figured I'd pick one up at a good price and someone was selling the anniversary edition at a good price. now I'm trying to learn things to do with the Wii and such.

We're nearing the end of the road for the Wii. Only two announced releases I plan on picking up. Other than this the cupboard is getting bare when it comes to Wii releases. I think Dragon Quest X is coming out on both Wii and WiiU.

I've been enjoying Fatal Frame: Deep Crimson Butterfly (a.k.a. Project Zero 2 Wii Edition) for the last few days.

Why, oh WHY did Tecmo Koei have to sell Nintendo the rights to Fatal Frame? One of my favorite game franchises of all-time, and Nintendo does absolutely nothing with it, and lets it die a slow painful death from neglect (in the US). The only thing we get is Spirit Camera which you have to play in a brightly-lit room! The Wii is dead, and I have zero excitement for Wii U. Pikmin 3 looks like an up res-ed GameCube game. New SMB U looks less exciting than New SMB 2. And I don't even want to TALK about Nintendo Land. That gamepad tablet thing, you just know it's gonna be the least-responsive touchscreen you've ever had, and it's not even multi-touch! ...Okay, rant over. I feel better now.
