General Zavvi Steelbook Discussion Thread

Argh, why can't I buy a 4K & 3D blu-ray steelbook! I went for the 3D blu-ray steelbook and I'll pick up the 4K version another day as a normal box.

By the time it comes out I should have a 4K player!

My Death Wish steelbook didn't turn up so I contacted Zavvi and was told to contact them in ten working days which was yesterday. I only got around to sending the message today. Now they're telling me to wait 20 calendar days which is the 2nd May

Has anyone else had this much hassle with them over a missing parcel? I've had around ten or so steelbooks delivered since then which were ordered around the same time and they've all arrived. Surely if this was going to turn up, it'd be here by now

I'm going to order another copy as I don't want to risk it selling out (like the Tomb Raider ones did) and I want to watch it. I'll then ask them to refund the original order

That's not for certain.

For example I had ordered In Bruges, Barbarella and Alan Partridge SB at the same time. Both were sent on 2.6.2017.

In Bruges took 5 days, Alan Partridge took 6 days, and Barbarella arrived after 17 (!) days. Until now every single Zavvi order showed up. I had to request 2 reshipments out of my 1000 orders or so, and even those 2 showed up.

One arrived 38 days (!) after shipping. It was the Carrie Limited Edition. I couldn't believe it and thought that it was the re-shipment.

Another time I ordered 4 things, Firefly 15th Anniversary, Saw SB, Martian Extended SB, I Robot SB. Saw was even shipped 1 day earlier than the rest.

Guess what happened:
Firefly + Martian Extended took both 8 days. I Robot took 10 days. Saw took 17 days in total to arrive-

Maybe that one steelbook is getting delayed because of customs. You never know.

And yes, I'm autistic :P and write down every single date of shipment and also arrival.

For "Death Wish" there is basically no way it well sell out. It's not even Zavvi exclusive, but also sold by Amazon Italy for example.

I doubt it is anything to do with customs unless it's come from some far flung part of the world outside of the UK. I've ordered every Zavvi exclusive steelbook and they've always arrived within 3-5 days. It's with Royal Mail so unless they are holding onto it then I would say it was lost. As I had about eight steelbooks ship that same day, then they'd all be in the same consignment

I'm fully aware of Zavvis's sold out status, but you never know when things will show back in stock, and while a steelbook maybe available elsewhere, I've been surprised by some that have genuinely sold out quickly which I wouldn't have expected to

Most of the time Zavvi ships steelbooks from outside of EU. That way they save on VAT, which is why they can be as cheap as they often are.

Agreed.
Sometimes it's crazy. Like with "The Thing" steelbook.
And in other cases steelbooks even for well known and beloved movies do not sell out for a year or more.

I've ordered two steelbooks through zavvi, and pre ordered 3 more.

The first steelbook, Thor Ragnarok 3D was dispatched and arrived in one week. The second is Star Wars The Last Jedi 3D. That one was dispatched 4/6 for a 4/20 to 4/23 delivery. Havent received it as of 4/27, 3 weeks time. I e-mailed them a week ago and they told me to wait until 4/27 before contacting them, which I have now done.

It's strange, because I found a seller on a third party website who lives about 20 miles away from me who got his copy last week. Everyone else I've spoken to has also received theirs now. So at this point, I'm convinced I'm looking at a lost order.

I just tried it. Still works.
Just enter that inside the "coupon code" field. All upper case.
Maybe it doesn't work on some specific thing.

I ordered regular Blurays, steelbooks, DVD collections and even socks using that code today. It worked for all of them. Preorders may be excluded, I haven't tried.

It also seems you can remove postage for other items by simply adding a steelbook. At least that worked for me yesterday.

Weird...

For me it says “Free delivery steelbooks” but only removes £0.99 instead of the full £2.99 delivery fee. Canada doesn’t get the same treatment as the US?

I'm from Europe and postage is 0.99 quid here.
Maybe an oversight on zavvi's part, idk. They solved that in a really weird manner by basically making "free shipping on steelbooks" a special offer. This also makes it impossible to cancel such orders!

US probably has the same issue. Maybe try to contact zavvi support.
