Default Wii Mini Now Coming to the U.S.

Quote:
Last year, Nintendo launched a new model of the Wii, the Wii Mini, in Canada. Then, earlier this year, they brought the Wii Mini to the U.K. in March. Now, the system is being released in North America at a low price with a free game.

The Wii Mini will be released this month for $100, and will come packaged with a copy of Mario Kart Wii. Accompanying the game and system will be a red Wii Remote Plus controller and red Nunchuk controller.

If you intend to pick a Wii Mini up, note that this model of the Wii is missing several features available in regular Wii consoles, such as the ability to play Gamecube games and the ability to connect the console to the Internet. Additionally, the Wii Mini isn’t capable of 480p video output or using SD cards.

Just when you thought the whole Wii/Wii U was as confusing as it could possibly get - especially from the retailer's perspective - here comes the Wii Mini!

Can someone explain to me why Wii Mini exists, especially now when Nintendo needs to move everyone off the Wii in order to bolster Wii U sales?

Well Wii games are still being made just like PSP games. I think the Wii Mini in this case is I suppose for like this Holiday season for people who are uneducated about the whole Wii situation and bundling it with a popular Nintendo Published/Developed game. Though they chose an odd game to bundle it with considering the whole no Internet Connection and that most people like to play that game Online.

But when people see that it's only $100, people are going to grab it and Nintendo hopes to make quick money off of it.

Terrible console, don't see any reason in getting one when the regular Wii is so cheap and has so much more potential with online play and (if you go used) gamecube support.

That's going to end soon if it hasn't already. Production of the Wii console has been shut down.

For Japan yes but not sure about America and Europe. But there are games coming out for the Wii this month in America.

But people are going to see the $100 pricetag with a game included for a non-used copy and just act like it's a bargain when it really isn't.

If you want MK and an additional remote/nunchuk, it is already paid for.

Why would anyone buy this edition? It's a piece of s*** that had most of its features removed and you could get a Wii with GameCube ports for a lot less than what this'll retail.

The only audience that might be interested to get a Wii Mini would be collectors due to its Famicom-styled look.
