If you are looking for a new TV. The 6 Series is the way to go for the price. I actually have last years P605 55" in my bedroom, and the R615 65" in my living room. Really enjoy the TCLs. |

Walmart carry both of these brands. If Walmart have these TVs in stock at a lower price, Best Buy will price match it. Before you go to Best Buy, checkout Walmart's prices first.

Thanks, was kinda referring to the quality and comparison of the two. Both in the budget tier of 55" 4K tvs.

I was debating get the TCL Series 5 or 6, but leaning towards the 5 because of the $200 difference in price. Now BB lowers the price this week so its only a $100. Now leaning towards the 6, even though the issue that's been talked about with the 6 series is a concern. Going to pair it up with
4k Blu-ray player - Sony UBP-X700 Soundbar - Vizio 36" 5.1 channel soundbar with subwoofer(though I'm not to keen on the back speakers having to be plugged into the subwoofer). Unless someone has another suggestion in the $200ish range. |

Is this really necessary because the video should automatically convert HDR.

If a 4K Blu-ray doesn't have Dolby Vision, the TV and the Blu-ray player should automatically convert to HDR anyway, whether if the Dolby Vision is on or off.

This is specific to the player. If you leave the DV setting on using a disc where it is not supported, the picture will look washed out. Unfortunately, the player does not automatically detect DV so it has to be turned on/off manually.

Does this only relates to the Sony because, I don't think the other brands operate this way.
