I just ordered the Best Buy exclusive TCL 4K 55inch 55S515. Heard great things. So we’ll see.

Glad your happy. Don't do what so many people I read about and get all kinds of testing apps and stuff looking for problems or deficiencies. If you don't see obvious issues, just sit back and enjoy your tv.

You know what I say, it either looks good to you or it don't.

Now back to my 65" six series!

And he just pulled the trigger. Will pick it up in a couple of days. He likes my C7, but with two youngsters it wasn't in the cards right now. Thanks again for the head's up.

I'm a plasma guy, but I must admit that I was pretty floored seeing the 55" set my buddy has. Seems to be the TV to beat in that price range.

Hey Cheify,

If you are looking for a new TV. The 6 Series is the way to go for the price. I actually have last years P605 55" in my bedroom, and the R615 65" in my living room. Really enjoy the TCLs.

The third time was the charm for the 43s515 for me. The first one had some backlight issues, and the second had debris under the screen.

When it's all said and done I paid $204.99 total for the TV, so I'm happy.

Been thinking of getting a 55” 4K set for a spare room/game/movie room. Noticed Best Buy has dropped the TCL 6 series down to $499 and the Vizio P series is $699. Any opinions??

Walmart carry both of these brands. If Walmart have these TVs in stock at a lower price, Best Buy will price match it. Before you go to Best Buy, checkout Walmart's prices first.

Thanks, was kinda referring to the quality and comparison of the two. Both in the budget tier of 55" 4K tvs.

I've been hearing and reading good reviews on the TCL TVs, and If it was me, I would go with the TCL instead of the Vizio. Here are a couple of reviews that you may find helpful:

I was debating get the TCL Series 5 or 6, but leaning towards the 5 because of the $200 difference in price. Now BB lowers the price this week so its only a $100. Now leaning towards the 6, even though the issue that's been talked about with the 6 series is a concern. Going to pair it up with
4k Blu-ray player - Sony UBP-X700
Soundbar - Vizio 36" 5.1 channel soundbar with subwoofer(though I'm not to keen on the back speakers having to be plugged into the subwoofer). Unless someone has another suggestion in the $200ish range.

I bought the 65" 6 series in September and just picked up the Sony UBP-X700. Very happy with both and together the a/v quality is excellent. Just make sure you keep Dolby Vision OFF if the disc does not have DV. Otherwise I'm sure you'll be pleased.

Is this really necessary because the video should automatically convert HDR.

If a 4K Blu-ray doesn't have Dolby Vision, the TV and the Blu-ray player should automatically convert to HDR anyway, whether if the Dolby Vision is on or off.

This is specific to the player. If you leave the DV setting on using a disc where it is not supported, the picture will look washed out. Unfortunately, the player does not automatically detect DV so it has to be turned on/off manually.

Does this only relates to the Sony because, I don't think the other brands operate this way.
