Don't we all follow our own prerogative's for entertainment which brings us enjoyment, which costs way less now thanks to the pandemic, since most of eat at home mostly, don't go out very much, certainly travel a lot less. You just try eating out a lot and see how much money you can spend.

Honestly why don't you concentrate on managing your own expenses.
So you got that from my Post, I was just answering Wendell that gets upset because we buy cheaper Codes. Everyone looks for bargains and sales, even the people with deeper pockets. I don't buy Coders anymore because Vudu has some great sales now, with $5 to $10 Movies. Jealousy, not in the least, don't worry about managing my expenses. I do well in the Stock Market with solid Companies like AT&T, Verizon, Apple, and Walt Disney. We all have our priorities.

What is rich, we are just talking about managing expenses and spending according to our priorities. If you buy quality products they will last, and give you the best service for the money you do spend. You just have to prioritize according to your needs!

But that sounds a lot like the old you don't need to constantly upgrade your old electronics argument, in that rather than dabble with several ways to watch content better, you are ok with what is acceptable to you. But you got to understand there are many people out that are used to even better video/audio reproduction and yes spend more money.

It is true that most look for a way to save some money, as there are plenty within our little group here who take advantage of something like Target’s B2G1 deal they have going on right now, or Black Friday, or a Criterion sale to name a few. The big difference between a purchase during those promos and people who save money by buying codes is that one of them is still supporting the industry and retailers while the other is not.

There are those of us who at times will also buy something on release day as well, and not wait for a sale. Even though I took advantage of Target’s sale this week, I also just grabbed the $35 Godzilla Steelbook simply because I love this hobby and have no qualms about supporting something that has given me 30 plus years of enjoyment.

Indeed, that was part of the point I was making. I take offense to folks coming here and posting about how disc sales are in decline and profits for disc may be lower than EST when those same poster rip off the content providers by ripping rental disc, buying cheap UV, MA and other codes.

My Walmarts are all doing media resets but I just travelled to NC and the media section was quite large for a Walmart. They had an entire end display 4ft approximately of 4K then the movies mixed in at price point. The new release end was stripped bare but had the side display of 4K as well.
The big display had a variety, Paramount titles and WB titles, I can’t remember what else. I know I saw Days of Thunder, Top Gun, Full Metal Jacket.

I think with everything going on lately, much of what’s being dumped on the shelves is old stock and bundle values. Currently I’m spending mostly at Walmart when I think about mainstream releases. Target is minimal unfortunately and Best Buy has been empty for a while doing a reset and just not putting anything out.
How to increase sales? All those monthly Paramount titles getting dropped, I’m buying most. Sell them in stores. An example I see often selling well was Good Burger on DVD. Push it to the shelf on Blu and it would sell. Baggar Vance and Last Castle oh and The Saint would sell. I know I’ve heard over the last few years people asking employees about those titles. Casual consumers who don’t keep up with the lists like much of us do

Default Snyder's Justice League 4K

Okay getting back to Digital vs Physical, how many people that prefer Disc will cave and watch the Snyder Cut on HBOMax? If you do and the Quality is not up to your standards, what equipment are you using and how are you setup? I still think that the best Streaming is Hardwired!

Asking if people that use both media and streaming and are caving to watch something on HBO Max is dumb. If you have a subscription your likely to watch it, but likely will not be satisfied until it’s out on 4K media as streaming it’s not switching between aspect ratios, neither is the audio lossless.

What good does describing setups used to watch if you are clearly not benefiting from that exposure, and have no inclination to upgrade what you use?

I'm not sure if Best Buy or Target are even doing "resets." I think they are moving to an "online" model for physical media, consider so many people stream now and not buy movies physically. I'm not happy about it because I have had movies damaged due to shipping over the years and I much prefer picking up my movie and knowing exactly what condition it is instead of playing "shipping and delivery" lottery.

So those folks have the money to do that or, as Wendell mentioned, you get more gigs to make more money to allocate for these new components.

I went full on 4K last year - I mentioned it here many times. What I did to cut corners is use my legacy equipment. The only thing I had to upgrade was the 4K TV, AVR, 4K Player, and the two immersive height channels. That's it. With tax, shipping, and cost was about 1K. That's it. I wasn't going to get brand new speaker equipment, which is why used my existing legacy equipment to cut corners. I started at 5.1.2 and now I am at 5.2.2, because I just upgraded my subwoofers. I'm ahead of the curve in terms of pricing. That's also not a knock on those that spend more on their equipment. That works for them and the way I did it, works for ME.

About 3 weeks ago we were in The Villages FL Walmart and they had what appeared to be a fairly new disc display that was unlike other new Walmart disc displays. Wish I had taken a picture. It was 50 feet long and 6 foot high.

The Walmart at Waynesville NC (small mountain town) new display from a couple of years back:

IMO, you clearly have aspirations to upgrade when possible and delighted with your results. And keep posting about sales you come across, I am not opposed to taking advantage of them.

The younger folks should remember that some of us has purchased many titles several times. Couple of examples: have done T2 at least 6 times, Blade Runner at least 5 times.

Amazon has their own buy 2 get 1 free sale going:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/promotion/...A23GESP2UC1NP8

I just bought The Revenant 4K disc from Amazon (not part of the sale), because it had an additional coupon to clip for an additional $3.30 off, so the total was about $16.66, with tax was about $18, which is fine by me. The Revenant 4K disc rarely goes down in price.

I get HBO Max for free so I already watched it. But I will still purchase it on UHD disc when it is released. Quality was fine for streaming.

It's not even a particularly long wait. I have no problem waiting more than a year for plenty of TV shows to hit physical media so why would a 2 month wait make me jump ship?

Same here. Looked great on HBO Max. 65 inch 4k HDR, Sony sub and soundbar.

Will be buying the disc when its released. Not substitute for owning it. One of the best superhero films ever, right up there with Endgame.
