The quote is "You only get to see a movie for the first time once." If I spend money on a disc and it only goes in my player once, it was still worth it to me to have it be the best presentation possible for that one time. I would add to that quote tv shows as well, since I seem to be buying them on disc more and more lately. Last edited by gotmule; 12-07-2022 at 10:41 PM. |

Have several movies that I like to re-watch because I like the movie and it has a good sound track with standout music, IMHO - The Bounty; Blade Runner (Vangelis), Dark Knight trilogy; Pirates Of The Caribbean (Hans Zimmer), Romeo Is Bleeding (Mark Isham), Cat People (Giorgio Moroder) and several others.

Perhaps they want to watch gotham when it was on netflix. The complete series cost 25 dollars at one point and netflix premium costs 20 dollars a month these days. You would need to watch 100 episodes in less then a month for it to be cheaper to stream gotham then to outright buy it and again that is ignoring the used and resell market of physical. People only have so much time in the day I doubt to many people get that much value out of streaming services when you look at what they watched in a month. |

I hate that I have to pay for ads because every product that I buy has a percentage of the cost of that product going to advertisement. |

Streaming is expensive, has been, is, and likely to continue. Mine is currently $60 to the ISP ($80 total), Prime $9, Netflix $20, Disney+ $9, Total $98 a month.

The cost to the ISP (or additional cost over the cheapest available internet service) should definitely be factored into the cost of streaming but I've never seen anyone else take that into account.

I use my internet service to make lots of video calls and also for online multiplayer video gaming. I would need/want a robust internet service even if there were no streaming services. |

I consider my monthly streaming cost, for the streaming services themselves, to be zero thanks to the use of fuzzy math.
I have Netflix thru account sharing. No cost to me. I have HBO Max as a "free" perk with my AT&T cell phone service. I pay for Amazon Prime, but I have been doing that continuously since Prime began in 2005 and several years before Prime offered any kind of streaming. I pay for Prime for the shipping perk, then as now. I have never thought of it as a streaming expense. I have been offered Disney+ thru account sharing, but I turned it down. Anything Disney that I want, I pretty much already own on disc. I don't care about Star Wars and MCU serials and while that's the main draw for many people, these do nothing for me. You want to add it - then you have to add the space your media takes up in your home for mortgage, rent, insurance, etc. BTW =-if you are ordering your media, as I know almost all of you do - better add YOUR ISP charges because . . . no ISP, no ordering disc. Fair is fair. ![]() |

Insuring a collection is entirely optional, too. I would bet that most people do not have any special coverage for their disc collections. To be fair, a person can easily get by with minimal internet service if all that they use it for is shopping, banking, and "lookups." In fact, they can just use their cell phone internet connection for stuff that low in bandwidth usage and forego internet service altogether. Last edited by Vilya; 12-07-2022 at 09:29 PM. |
