Why no Panasonic TVs in U.S. stores?

I mean you can purchase them off their website, but does anyone know when they will be available in stores? I read an article stating they will return in the near future, but anyone know how long?

Panasonic stopped importing TV's to the US shortly after they abandoned producing their excellent plasma displays ................................ . There really wasn't a market for their run of the mill LCD panels here . I know I'd never buy one ......

Hopefully ................ when they get their OLED act together they'll return to these shores

They are talking about trying to bring their 2017 OLED (using an LG WOLED panel again) to the US but it's not certain they will. Even if they do you will probably never see Panasonic come back with a full range of TV's in the US. It's very likely they wont be making TV's anymore by 2020

I hope it's true and they do bring their display expertise back to these shores

When my present plasma displays start to fail ...... I hope there's affordable Panasonic OLED screens available to me

I think Panasonic made their almost fatal error when in hiring Kazuhiro Tsuga in 2012 and he put forth plans to stop plasma production to jump on the crowded LCD bandwagon . If it was me ....................... I'd have kept production of the last line of Plasma panels at least until they had the OLED's ready to roll.

For me ........................... going from a Plasma to a LCD is taking a step backwards in overall quality

I've been encouraging Panasonic to bring their 2017 TV line-up into the USA. I have always loved Panasonic's video products.

I'll be at the 2017 CES press conferences and will report directly from the events as they are unveiled.

Thanks for doing ^^ that. As a direct dealer I have been telling Panasonic execs. the USA market and professional reviewers will embrace Panasonic displays.

Yes, in Canada and the EU Panasonic sells TVs.

Technics is doing very well since Panasonic re-launched the brand this year with outstanding 2-channel products and aggressive pricing.

With all the electromagnetic radiation permeating our homes and world in general, are you sure it's just WiFi signals that are causing the problem ?

At our 2016 TV Shootout I put my personal KRP-500M monitor in the side-by-side line-up to show where we have come in comparison with the ultimate display ever made that was fine tuned to it's peak performance. We distributed our demonstration video through the first true 18Gbps 8x8 matrix switch and had control over the output resolution. Our sources were 1080p BD and then we demonstrated UHD/HDR converted to FHD/SDR for the KRP-500M against todays best UHD/HDR, BT2020 color, 10-bit EOTF displays. It was fun and if you want to know the bottom line on what we say here goes...

The 1080p BD looked great and look similar and kept up with the best 2016 displays, and as you lowered the ambient room light the Kuro and LG G6 OLED looks best. But when we played UHD/HDR content with the UHD remapped to FHD/SDR all of the UHD TVs delivered a significantly superior image.

The TV Shootout evaluation event only includes TVs are available in the US market.

As a one time (a long time ago ) mobile disk jockey ......... I owned and loved the utilitarian build and workhorse like performance of the Technics turntables but I prefered others for use in my home systems

Holding your breath for Panasonic to re-enter the TV market might lead you to asphyxiation...

Plasma was in a constant yearly decline, and the losses were similarly mounting, so I don't think a different CEO would have righted that ship. I also think you're overestimating the number of loyal Viera owners who are waiting on Panasonic to get it together. They lost me after the ZT60 and its everpresent IR. The number of Viera fans who would buy in (many of whom are price sensitive, so that leaves OLED in the cold) might make up 0.1% of world TV sales, not enough to move the needle in an industry that thrives on volume.

They're still in the business of manufacturing TV's today .......... It's just that they're not exporting them to the U.S.

And I so want to see their OLED's on these shores.

I do however understand that consumers today are more concerned with convenience,frivolous features, and low cost then they are with quality...... It's all part of this disposable society in which we live.

It's like BETA vs VHS all over again ......... where the lesser technology wins

What manufacturing lines do they actually have, though? They shuttered both the plasma and LCD TV manufacturing facilities that they once had over the past 3 years. As far as I know, they are now just rebranding Chinese-built (and Korean in the case of OLED, if they start up with those again) TVs at this point, much like Sony.

Panasonic's DX900 is very highly regarded and reviewed in the UE and Asia. Panasonic has always designed and built the finest displays in all categories, particularly as a leader in PDP with the VT and ZT consumer premium series and VX300 professional monitor and now in FALD 4K HDR LCD/LED with their DX900 series marketed throughout the EU and Asia.

It's perfectly ok for Panasonic to use a 2017 4K UHD OLED panel from LG Display. I actually love the idea and hope we see a Panasonic edition with LG's latest 2017 4K HDR/WCG 10-bit OLED available in the the USA.

Looking forward to CES 2017!

That's definitely not true. I live in Japan and Panasonic is alive and well. There are massive amounts of 4K Panasonic TVs being sold in Japanese elctronic stores such as AEON, Yamada Denki, BIC Camera....

While I hope what you posted is true .............

They are only manufacturing their fantastic OLED displays and their lesser LCD screens (4K as they may be)..........

But in either case ...................... Those sets are not being exported to the USA
