The ‘even’ should be after ‘who’.

PJ and 3D are a match made in heaven when both are done right. I believe 3D looks more brighter in newer projectors. Shame that I am unable to accommodate a PJ in my new flat. The last PJ I had was Epson 9400W / 6050UB.

I have a theory Avatar 2 will reignite the 3D craze. I have been wrong before though.

I don't think so. It will give it a small boost but one film can't resurrect a rejected technology

The timing isn't as good. HDTV manufacturers were already making 3D TV sets when Avatar got released, and the 3D Blu-ray spec was just finalized. The consumer electronics market was ready to push 3D in the home even without Avatar's success and effect, although it certainly helped.

This time around, there appears to be zero interest in reviving 3D TVs from TV manufacturers. Even if there's a surge of consumer interest, there won't be any products for them to purchase, and then the interest will die down again, so even if TV manufacturers then decide to produce 3D TVs again, they won't be released until consumers don't care anymore.

I did. It was...interesting. It was nice as a curiosity, but I quickly reverted back to flat for sports. Maybe it's just what I was used to.

I watched some US football on ESPN 3D but the camera angles were very limited and it just didn't do anything for me. That's hard for me to say because I'm a total 3D junkie.

Can't be a resurgence in interest without the industry first bringing 3D back as a feature in some mid priced monitors. And understanding TV's are not a commodity, computer or smart phone which many replace after a few years. While some look to get bigger screens, the average consumer is apt to stick with his or her monitor if it's still performing fine.

So retain it instead of looking for the quick profit. See if there's a slow but evolving increase in 3D discs and bluray players over time. Stream more 3D movies. And don't overhype 3D as the next big step in television and force feed it but rather promote 3D subtly as an added feature everyone can enjoy when they want to.

Fairly yuge problem was that 3D spec issue, as there were 3D specs that predated the 3D Bluray standard established for HDMI, but there was little to no support for them, and products that only supported them were still being made at least 4 years after 3D Bluray hit the scene in 2010.

Hopefully the industry will hit the ground running with hypothetical 4K 3D and won't end up with another conflict that was almost a standards war.

Years ago, when the monitor and TV industry were both stagnating at 1080p for the mainstream, South Korean companies started making cheap 1440p monitors, which helped break displays out of their rut. I've mused about it before, but where are the entrepreneurs now who will again dumpster-dive at the Korean/Chinese display factories and realize that B+ OLED panel + polarizer = profit?

4K UHD-BD has no 3D specification. It doesn't exist nor will it. You know this but you keep making these incorrect statements giving false hope.

Speaking of false hope, nothiing has changed since they stopped making 3D TVs. All the issues and problems are still the same.

The necessity of 3D glasses will still be there but I don't think that will be a negative factor if another attempt is made. Just don't repeat the overhype and let it be an added feature.

With world's crisis I hardly doubt that will ever happen. There are several brands that could easily build those sets but they're just not turned to that. But I hope to still be alive if it does happen.

As we have shown . . . medical 3D monitors are being sold for big bucks. They will make up the lion's share of all 3D TVs sold (yes they aren't a "TV" per se but their sales go into that category.

No glasses 3D is no further along than it was almost a decade ago. TVs aren't designed for one or two viewers even though that is an application. Sit three people on a couch and only one - the middle person - gets to enjoy 3D. The L & R people see blurs and double images. This is based on a 50" sized TV. 75" would provide all three with 3D as long as you don't move your head. Anyone not sitting on the couch will not see 3D , like in wing chairs in a standard living room. Then you have the issue with the Parallax Barrier which distorts 2D TV watching.

Light Field captured 3D is years away - 7 to 10.

So where is the supposed resurgence of 3D for the home coming from?

Why is it that no one see 3D as a NATURAL extension of VR? Remember the old tech viewmasters in the 70's that allowed you to see slides in 3D. VR is set to make watching 3D movies easier than having huge tv's and 3D glasses. VR is 3D glasses taken to the next level. How about a 120" TV only a 1/2 inch from your pupils with 3840 x 2160 in each eye at 120-Hz refresh rate. I'm ready for that.

Not my experience. Your 3 people must be sitting very far from each other.
