Interesting since Paramount skipped it on the disc, never heard that practice before from them.

F&F 1-9 and Hobbs&Shaw - iTunes and MA

Most Universal movies on MA better than iTunes due to better compression. Below table is based on redemption of 4K code supplied with the physical copy.

UK Godfather Coda has had its extras updated, both the Theatrical and the 1991 Cut both play back in 4K Dolby Vision.

For someone who hasn't seen any of the three versions, which is recommended?

You’re definitely asking the wrong person as I’ve never seen them either, in fact to this day at 45 years old I’ve not seen any of the Godfather films at all yet.
I bought the boxset last September, just haven’t found the right time to give them a watch.
Hopefully that’ll be rectified soon.

I only watched Godfather 2 for the first time 2 weeks ago! (Also 45 lol)
I know they're 3hrs long each and you might think there are other ways to spend that time, but honestly those first two movies are so easy to watch! Been putting the third one off as it's had mixed reviews over the years.

Dolby Vision and not HDR? In the US, the theatrical and 1991 cut are in HDR in the extras.

Having only recently been baptised in the beauty that is this trilogy, based on the 4K iTunes upgrade, I can’t believe it took me this long (37 years old haha). I’ve been obsessed ever since! Anyone who has yet to see them should definitely do so as soon as they are able.

On the third one, I’ve only seen Coda but thought it a worthy follow up - if not exactly reaching the spectacular heights of the first two.

Yeah Dolby Vision, I was quite surprised considering HDR was mentioned for the US.

The new wave is to say that CODA is the best version of the third film. Hogwash. Two weeks ago, I said the theatrical cut was the best version. But, having rewatched the theatrical cut and the 1991 cut back to back, I think I’m going to go back to the 1991 cut. There were two moments in the 1991 cut that are missing from the theatrical cut that I absolutely missed. So, I’m just going back to the 1991 cut, which is the cut we’ve all been watching since 1991 on home video.

The problem at the moment is if you watch your preferred version on iTunes the subtitles are missing and they are used in several scenes.

Yeah, I know. That’s why, until this gets sorted, I’ll just go back to the Coppola Restoration from 2008 on disc.

Is iTunes still having issues with "Godfather Part II"? I can't get it to play at all.

Does anybody else get better sound from an iTunes movie compared to a 4K UHD? When I watched the Godfather Part II on iTunes it sounded way better than my 4K UHD of The Godfather Part II. I have an LG soundbar and when the movie is not in Dolby Atmos I use the cinema mode on my soundbar. The iTunes version was way louder than the disc version. Also I didn't notice any difference in the picture quality.

From an iOS device if you go into the itunes store, pull up the movie, then click on the share button there should be an option in the menu that says 'Gift'.

In what regard did you think the audio is better? Louder can sound subjectively "better" to the human brain (which is why level matching is so important for listening tests), but obviously that isn't necessarily true. Non-Atmos iTunes 5.1 tracks are usually 384 kbps AC3, which isn't great.
