Happy New Year, although CES is a tough way to break it in...

In our suite, we're showing BD 3D playback also processed by the VXP video processing technology we integrated. Looks great...

Now if somebody will just build a BD player using it...

Default Frame interpolation on BluRay players

I tried to search the thread but the latest posts on this topic are 2 years old. So I'm just wondering if theres any news if Frame interpolation (motionFlow . . .etc) will be incorporated into standalone players.

I know its possible through software (cyberlink DVD9, Avisynth) and I spoke to a Sony Technician that stated the fact that FI can be done in software and that a firmware update can achieve this.

The importance of these feature is that DLP projectors do have noticeable motion judder, and I think FI at a low setting will fix this.

Not that I'm aware of. Problem is that most BD player manufacturers won't pay more for to improve video quality. Well, I guess whether it is a problem or not depends on which side of the fence you're sitting on...

Incredibly disappointed!! I heard a while back that high-end players would unveil it but I guess it does boil down to just a profit. If it can be done in software couldn't a firmware update at least give it a few enhancements to video judder? (knowing full well that hardware would give the best performance) At least a good feature for those with DLP projectors or any 60hz HDTV could appease A LOT of customers.

COME ON BLU-RAY COMPANIES!! Quality over quantity.

It would be awesome if your bluray player could catalog your movies. Somehow you can browse your movie collection on the player, that would be pretty cool.

Kjack,

I am looking to buy a Popcorn Hour Media Play with the "Sigma Designs SMP8643, 667MHz CPU with floating point coprocessor". Just wondering on your thoughts on it's video performance with Blu playback in 1080p/24.

TIA

Default Sony BDP-S6500 heat sink poor design

Have you looked at what Sony calls a heat sink in this unit? Looks like two pieces of foam to a piece of tin. looks like it was made to fail; right out of warranty of course. After replacing with a real heat sink no more problems. Are other manufactures this cheap?
