I'm currently looking for a TV around 80 inches. Around 75-85. Budget at $2500 but want the best value for that amount. So a year old or two would be ok. It's been a while since I purchased a TV and all the info is overwhelming.
I do like Samsung but don't see any oled TVs. But it seems currently large oled TVs like LG are at a premium. From what I am reading, QLED is not all bad and a step up from standard LCD. Looking for 4k and higher refresh rate. I know some companies market a higher refresh rate but have a lower true refresh. |

I’d recommend the TCL 8 Series or the Samsung Q90 if you can go a few hundred bucks higher.
The Samsung is better for gaming, but the TCL will give you better contrast. There’s also the Samsung Q80, but it has more blooming and less contrast than both of the other ones. All of them use QLED. All of them have a native refresh rate of 120Hz. OLEDs are usually the premium models from brands that offer them, so it’s near impossible to find a 70”+ OLED model below $4K. |

Samsung doesn't support Dolby Vision; you couldn't give me one of their TVs.
An 85" Samsung Q90T costs $5299.99 at Best Buy and that's a bit over the OP's $2500 budget. Even the 85" Samsung Q60T costs $2699.99. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung...?skuId=6402405 https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung...?skuId=6401710 Robert Zohn posted this recently regarding closeout pricing for Sony TVs: Quote:

Yeah Samsung has never supported DV unfortunately so that is also something to consider.
Except for the 900F, all of those Sony models have pretty bad contrast so I won’t recommend them myself. But yeah, the 900F is actually pretty solid, although its color gamut/volume is lower compared to most recent TVs. |

https://www.tclusa.com/catalog/home-theater I own the 85" Sony 900F, which are 2018 models, and I am mostly pleased with it. The G series all use Sony's X Wide Angle feature in their 75" and larger TVs and that comes at the expense of picture quality. The 900F does not use Sony's X Wide Angle feature and that is why I chose it over the 950G. Last edited by Vilya; 04-07-2020 at 07:17 AM. |

![]() ![]() ![]() Again, the OP said 75-85. Last time I checked, 75 falls within 75-85. TCL has at least one currently-available 75” model (8 series). Best Buy link (TCL 75” 8 series): https://www.bestbuy.com/site/tcl-75-...?skuId=6377907 Samsung 75” Q90: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung...?skuId=6331771 Last edited by samlop10; 04-07-2020 at 07:25 AM. |

Thanks for input all. This one fits most criteria except size, and the 75 is a big jump in price for the Q90
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-QN65Q90RAFXZA-Flat-QLED-Q90/dp/B07N4MSMJ7/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=samsung%2Bq90&qid=158 6273230&sr=8-3&th=1 https://www.abt.com/product/143729/S...Q90TAFXZA.html I am leaning towards Samsung after having to use their warranty in the past, it was a trouble free process. From what I am reading the Q90 is the best in that category. Debating if I should do the 65, or continue the search for a larger one. The space is large and currently has an older 70 inch with thick bezels and all looks more like a 75 or larger. |

I gotta have that Dolby Vision, too. There is just no good reason for any 4K TV not to support DV and as far as I can tell Samsung is the only manufacturer that doesn't. |

Otherwise, the best quality at that size and closer to your budget ($2600) is the 75” TCL 8 Series. |

Samsung is funding a one day promotion on the new 2020 75" Q70T series for $1,999. This sale ends Thursday, April 9, 2020 at 11pm EST.
Anyone who wants to take advantage of this one day flash sale can buy from any Samsung authorized dealer, which of course, includes my company. |

Well, let's talk about this.
12bit mastered content displayed on a 10bit display will render a better image than 10bit content on a 10bit display. But that's not the most important ellement of the picture quality that Dolby Vision's HDR format offers. The big advantage of Dolby Vision HDR over the base layer HDR10 is the dynamic frame by frame metadata that is read by Dolby Vision capable TVs to deliver the best possible HDR dynamic tonal range reproduction. |
