Default Anyone here still use landline phone?

My parents always nag me about why I donít get a landline phone for my apartment. I just donít see the purpose. I already pay $65 for cell phone service and unlimited talk and text. So why should I pay extra for a landline? Maybe Iím missing something?

Anyone here still use a landline phone? If so, any reason I should pay the added expense?

I don't see a reason to own a landline phone, unless it's a Garfield phone, you're a ninja, and you have important phone calls with bad guys:

I use a landline. My parents are pretty much the only people I talk to with it, but I prefer to use a landline over a cellphone because I know the reception won't break up as often.

Did have near-constant robocalls, but I opted to block all calls except certain numbers (my parents, work, few others), so I don't get bothered much anymore.

We keep one and I have no idea why.

The ONLY reason I see to have one is they work if the power goes out but ours are wireless bluetooth junk that doesn't work when the power goes out.

Needless to say I have suggested we stop having this but someone here still wants it.

I have one (with a dial) for those emergency situations.
Same with the turntable.
I also have a radio with three bands, a telescopic antenna and batteries (type C).
Bunch of wax candles ...

I have one for my DSL line. 99% of the calls = junk and get blocked. It does come in handy every now and then. We lost power for a week during Hurricane Sandy but the phone still worked. I finally broke down and bought a generator after that.

The rotary phone was certainly interesting. My nanny had one in her house even in the 1990s. It was kind of fun, if inefficient, to drag the dial. If I had landline service, then I'd probably add a rotary in one room just for the nostalgia/novelty. Landlines generally have pretty stable service and can come in handy when you need them. I was a late bloomer and didn't have a cell phone until my early 20s, so I was very accustomed to using standard landlines and 'cordless' phones. Also used pay phones a lot growing up and they used to be everywhere; the last time I can recall using one was about a decade ago and now they're pretty tough to find.

Parents still have a landline. I remember we had a rotary for the longest time. I would want a rotary IF I ever decided to get a line of my own. I love the sound it makes when dialing.
