Wow my 55' samsung f6400 actually looks so much more gorgeous at 100% sharpness. I honestly see no halos, edge enhancement or ringing. Just more fine detail. I went so near to the screen looking for them.

I heard so many people say this setting is not film-like but more digital looking and over-sharp but i don't see any of that. I might be going crazy but the picture looks life-like, rich and simply stunning. Even the grain doesn't show up in all scenes of movies. some movies don't even have any.

I recommend 100% sharpness for samsung tvs of my series model.

I have the 46' model and it took A LOT of messing around trying different people's setting until I got it looking okay(still not satisfied). I thought I had my sharpness set high on 30!(I'll try it at 100 for an hour) How high are your other settings? I've found the cool setting to be my new favourite after going with warm 1 for years, cooler looks a cleaner image

I can't get this TV to give a good picture!
Either the Image is too dark, too bright or the Reds are completely blown out!

Vizio E500i-B1

Right now, the Image is dark with Blown-out Reds!
I'm so frustrated with it!

I've looked everywhere online and can't find any decent settings for this exact model!

Been looking everywhere for the best calibration settings for the LG 49UF850T 49" 4K Ultra HD LED-LCD 3D Smart TV, but can't find a single one.

So can anybody recommend any best quality settings for Blu-rays and gaming (PS4/XBOX ONE)?

I'm usually on the Game setting, but whilst it seems fine, it's over sharpened on the Xbox One whereas the PS4 looks fine. Same with certain blu-rays. Can't seem to get that "the one" setting where everything is the best looking quality!

Any help is appreciated

Try switching to Movie mode and turning the sharpness off, also turn off any post-processing settings which affect the picture. The try one of the on-line calibration tools or BDs to set the TV as best you can.

Also keep an eye out for a the settings on-line, they won't be exact but they'll be a good place to start.

Using the HD color Bars, with a blue filter, on the Spears & Munsil 2nd ed. calibration BD. In Movie/Cinema (backlit) mode on my LCD, the default color level is Minus 10, as opposed to 0 in Standard mode. Probably because of the -10 level in Movie mode, the HD color bars would have me boost blue to plus 20 and Magenta around plus 10 to make the bars even with a blue filter. In Standard mode I don't need to boost the blue so much for a "correct" color bar result. I generally find things look best at night in Movie mode, but if I boost the blue as much as the chart would have me it can be too much on a lot of BDs. I've been eyeballing a compromise settings around Blue 9 Magenta 3, which look good on most BDs but the same setting never looks best on all BDs.
Is there any clearer guidline for this?

Does the Spears & Munsil color calibration use a blue filter? If not, then I would suggest using a calibration disc that does - it makes color and tint adjustments very straightforward.

Yes, it has a blue filter. I think part of the trickiness may be that my TVs Movie mode bumps the overall color level to -10, and may be throwing off the color bar test. I tried Movie mode with the color up to 0 and it looks over-saturated.
The results on the test are fairly clear, but if I follow those results the blue especially tends to be too much for 90% of my BDs. I'm guessing I need to either subtract 10 notches, or find a setting in between, to compensate. But then I'm basically back to eyeballing this, and desirable results can vary from blu-ray to blu-ray.
It isn't so problematic if I calibrate in Standard mode, but that mode is usually a bit too bright for nighttime viewing, even with contrast at 0.

It looks like a very poorly compressed transmission or stream, if your player's BDs look great I'd say it's the source. You can mess around with the picture processing, but it's never going to look fantastic.

I've been playing around with the settings on my TV, trying to make the most of the picture. It's an old TV (2009), only 720p, and so it doesn't have the sophisticated settings you find on newer models. Backlight intensity can't be changed apart from temperature, so I put it on warm. There isn't a movie mode either, only soft, standard, and dynamic.

I don't have a disc burner to make my own calibration disc, and I can't afford one at the moment. Would "soft" be the closest to movie mode? It's nowhere near as vivid as the other two.

Typically you will want to select the picture mode that gives you the warmest grayscale. Soft or Standard would probably get you in the ballpark.

Hello all,

I have a Samsung 55" KS8000 ordered online and while I'm not amateur to tinkering with TV settings, I'm curious as to what might be different when it comes to this HDR Stuff. I'm the kind of person who, when it comes to the image displayed, that accurate colors are the best colors. I'll be watching mostly standard color spectrum blu rays on it (for now) and standard color spectrum gaming (for now), so I don't know how the HDR settings would affect this.

For instance, can I just set all my inputs to HDR Gaming mode (which supposedly had the smallest input lag and the least amount of image post processing) set some basic settings like color tone and brightness based on preference, and forget about it?

I don't know if you ever got your tv calibrated yet but i have used ChadB and Gregg L. from LionAV. Gregg is in Maine but does tours up and down the east coast. Both guys are great calibrators and super nice guys who are passionate about what they do.
