Custom cover art for Blu-ray printing thread

I've had best results with my espon artisan 730 (quality is unreal) at max settings and turned to "premium presentation photo paper, matte".

with canon photo matte paper, the one with the teddy bear on the front.


paper is usually 10 bucks for 50 sheets, can't beat the quality.

protip: use a CISS system (costs about 40 bucks) so you won't spend thousands on ink haha

I have photoshop and downloaded a cover to print and took the numbers
(how big the image is and how many pixels) that someone gave me in another forum and printed it out and it's a freaking DVD cover! I need a blu ray cover!

What is the full dimension cover for a 10 disc 25mm blu-ray case? I plan on going to kinkos, but sure of the exact measurements to print out.

Does anyone use gloss paper at kinkos? If so, do you just buy the paper beforehand and then add it to the machine for print?

With UnderCoverXP which a lot of people use to print covers at home the Blu-ray cover dimensions are 147.3mm x 264.2mm. That should be for a US 11mm case so just add 14mm to the width. So 147.3 x 278.2 and you should get a decent result.

Lastly, I also requested for them to cut the covers for me and they did that at no additional charge and I couldn't even tell that they had been cut from a full 8.5x11 sheet.

The way I upload all of my covers is using UnderCoverXP which was mentioned in the OP and print to a PDF. I then use a PDF merger and merge all of my covers into one PDF file. The file I uploaded for my large order was over 80 MB but their site had no problem accepting it.

This is all just my own experience and the way I plan on doing custom covers for now on but I feel it is a very easy and cheap way of doing it. I recommend either of these two sites to anyone who is looking to do custom covers.

Coverxp is good. Today we can find different label software for different tastes. Lightscribe, expressit, dvd label software. Also cool design could be created in photoshop, but the main disadvantage it`s too expensive, You also could use trial version but only for 20 days

Anyone know what's the "best" paper to use for printing? I'm making custom criterion covers so I want the paper quality to be nice, but at the same time not be outrageously expensive.

So I downloaded some blu-ray artwork that I'd like to print. The problem is that the cases I have to use are the larger 25mm cases because of the # of discs. The artwork was created for a regular 12mm case. Is there a program that will allow you to stretch the spine?

I have always used Undercover XP for basic printing but this is a little different. Any help/advice?

Undercover XP will let you add the extra 13mm but you'll need to adjust the spine in a Photoshop type program. Try GIMP. Load the image in then make a New image with the larger dimensions you need, cut the front and back off the cover and paste them in opposite sides of the New image. That will leave a strip in the middle for the spine. You can either create a new spine or enlarge the old one (cropping a bit off the top and bottom). It's going to be a pain if the cover wraps around the front and back, as you won't be able to enlarge the current spine, then you'll have to make your own. A contrasting colour usually works nicely if you don't want a white or black spine.

The other option is to enlarge the entire cover and hope that there's enough dead-space around the boarders you can be cropped out when you resize it.

Maybe you could use the flip-side of a bluray cover that you are replacing or not using?

I live in Australia and I have always like the Blu-ray covers in the states better, cover art wise and the fact they don't have a huge rating on the front.

so this thread is confusing, no one really claims a proper paper or weight and really the only thing I can take from it is no glossy but one said someone suggested matte. And everyone is suggesting legal size.

So I have printed dvd covers before but I used glossy and photo ink is that still the case or does ink not really make a differance anymore.

Im researching how to print the Friday the 13th collection which would be a 10 disc cover, so first Im using legal size but what weight should I use? I will most likely be using Kinkos is there anything else I need to know.

I know the original post was a while back but can anyone confirm good results with this? I am looking to make my own cover but want to make sure I know I can print a cover on the bigger cases like that before I buy them... Newbie to trying to print and make a cover so looking for someone more experienced.

I've had good luck with the Kinkos in my area in the past, but wanted to give Moxicopy a try. I know this post is pretty old now, but on their site I couldn't find a product description that would work; everything had a minimum of 100 copies or more. Which item/product do you use to order your covers? Thanks!
