Hopefully they only have a tiny bit of that in this game but if thatís the bulk of the action running and hiding Iíll sadly pass again RE5 was the perfect balance of it all to me
I hear what you're saying. It's tense, nerve-wracking gameplay being at such a disadvantage with no sense of lasting power in the game.

It took me many tries and gameplay sessions of 30 minutes to finally complete Evil Within 1 because that game had me on edge so often, along with the frustration of trying to survive and solve puzzles while monsters were after me. The demon Laura was the absolutely worst, but creepiest monster in that game too.

RE7, the father chasing you was the worst. The rest was easier compared to that nightmarish sense of dread.

That's what these games are great at. Creating a sense of dread and tension. Not fun, but a good horror experience for a video game.

Question does this game and Biohazard have anything to do with the virus being let loose? Cause it really doesn’t look that way. It doesn’t even have the Resident Evil feel to it. It feels like a horror game just with Resident Evil in name.

Is the demo really blurry to anybody else or is this my TV being faulty?

It does. All games are connected. In fact they changed a bit in RE3 Remake to tie into 7 even more. I think the rumor is they are doing the same to 4.

Not sure of the changes to to RE 3 exactly. It involved Jill in someway. I think they are trying to make her more prominent in the future of the series is is speculation.

I'm a huge RE nerd so always looking for info. lol

I can't speak about this one, but Resident Evil 7, if I remember correctly, reminded me a lot of the first Resident Evil game: "haunted" mansion with freaks built over/near some kind of lab developing a virus / bioweapons.

It's in the same universe for sure.

RE4 didn't have zombies either (they were villagers controlled by a parasite but not rotting), but was a huge hit. In this game, it looks like werewolves are the "zombies" and the women vampires are the "lickers".

I'm not a RE player, but one video about the demo referenced what looked like the Umbrella logo on the floor mosaic in a hallway? Perhaps the T Virus has its origins further back in time than we thought. I'm not an expert, but I enjoy the lore of games like this.

Definitely some crappy textures that looked blurry in places. I thought it was pretty underwhelming for a ďvisual showcasing.Ē Other than the lighting and HDR which was pretty impressive anyway.

As for the other questions, yes this is a mainline RE game any connected to the franchise. Youíll play as Ethan, the character from RE7 and that was directly tied into the series with meeting
[Show spoiler]Chris Redfield
at the end.

I can’t say I’ve experienced this. The demo is running in a native 4K in a mostly 60fps, it’s pretty crisp! Are you on your ‘game’ tv preset? Have you tried checking the sharpness? Is the contrast right etc. Not sure what else to suggest.

Yes. Itís a sequel and you play as Ethan Winters, same dude you played as in 7. Just not this demo as itís just a visual showcase and not a full demo with actually gameplay/combat etc. A true demo is reportedly coming in March.

Textures in the game Evil Within 1 were very low res in many places for backgrounds from Bethesda as the distributor. RE7, those were better; from Capcom.

To add to my above post, if the whole image is blurry or whatever something is wrong.

Overall it looks very good and crisp. It just didn’t wow me and there’s some blurry textures here and there. Stood out as I played after playing the Gears 5 DLC and some Forza Horzion 4 and the XSX upgrade versions of those games are the best looking games I’ve played on next gen yet.

It’s also an art style thing I suppose as I didn’t think RE7 looked all that great either and this demo was just a higher resolution version of that style. The lighting and HDR was quite good though.

Ah. might just be the RE Engine is just not your thing.

I have a Series X as well. Hivebusters especially looks superb on the new hardware. Personally I think RE Village is the best I've seen so far out of both consoles but it's close and I certainly will not judge your opinion.

I was looking for very low res blurry textures but didn't spot much. The textures aren't great or anything, and there are some pixelated textures like the main floor pattern under the Chandelier hanging above, that look cheap when you bend down to look at the floor.

But overall, not bad visually and it has good artistry behind it.

Apparently Eurogamer found that the game looked great on PS5 but when you did get up close to the actual textures of the game, they lost that detailing they appeared to have at a distance.

So i do think there's an optimisation they hopefully can try do and sharpen that aspect up on texture quality a tad but it's very, very nice looking for the majority.
