Has anyone else experienced (recently or in the past) a slight feeling of letdown when you collected and viewed all of the 3D blu-rays that you had originally set out to buy?
I honestly didn't think I'd reach this point, but there are literally only like three or four 3D blu-rays left that I want which I don't have (and I'm completely aware of EVERYTHING that is available...so IMO there must be around 50 available that are worth even mentioning....I'll add 10 to my count to assume that there are a few that I am wrong in my assumption that they suck or are 'meh' at best. It's a great problem to have, granted, and I do look forward to having a year where I don't buy 35+ 3d blu-rays, considering I didn't even get started until mid-year last year. I am VERY excited to see what the year brings for the Pixar collection in 3D, if anything, as well as TRANSFORMERS 3 at the end of this month. The general release of Avatar 3D will be fun as well. Will probably pick up Puss In Boots just cuz, but I may start to 'chill out' a bit and get more into renting first at Family Video (they usually get one copy of the notable 3d releases where I live). Both Kung Fu Pandas in 3D at the tail end of the year was the icing on the cake of an amazing year of collecting and watching 3D movies. Very little of the 'new' has worn off of this technology for me; it's just....GREAT! It is weird to not be hunting ebay and amazon all of the time to get my collection where I want it, now that I'm 'caught up', is where I started with this thread....anyone agree? The hunt was fun and it's mostly over...'keeping up' with what's coming out this year should be really easy I think. And no, I won't be moving over to regular blu-rays in the same way - I just don't get as excited about those. Maybe a handful of releases a year for 2D get me really giddy. I understand what you are saying. I have amassed close to 65 3D blu-rays. I am only missing one or two that I would like to purchase (when the price is right): Drive Angry 3D and maybe Gnomeo and Juliet.
There are a few others that I do not have that I will pass on for now: Mars Needs Moms, A Nightmare Before Christmas, Dolphin Tale, Cave of the Forgotten Dreams -- and a few other documentaries. That being said, the brief post-holiday lull is not unwelcome. It gives my budget a chance to recuperate. But next week I will pick-up Journey To The Center of the Earth 3D. I have already pre-ordered Puss in Boots (from amazon using the $5 off promotion). I plan to get Transformers 3 ($10 upgrade coupon). Looking ahead I also plan to get A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas, Hugo, Tin Tin, Immortals, Up ... any new 3D BDs, that come out in 2012 that are appealing. In the meantime, I am still enjoying the 3D BDs that I have. Many are worth seeing time and time again. |

The best deals were on Thanksgiving weekend. I was SHOCKED at how many 3D BDs went on sale then. That's when you should stock up on 3D BDs you want to add to your collection. You can also use the PRICE TRACKER here on blu-ray.com to set up getting price alerts when movies you want go on sale. It's a nice feature. |

I've only had my projector since Saturday and have blown $400 on movies already and now feel like have plateaud. There is nothing left I really feel like buying, renting maybe, but buying? Maybe Puss In Boots since that was a great movie and I'll get it for the kids. Transformers 3 sucked IMO. Hugo yes, Tin Tin yes, but that's about it. In the meantime I picked up Uncharted 3 which is pretty decent in 3D so that will keep me busy for awhile!

When Blu-ray first came out, Sony was going so whole-hog on the speaker-bass action movies, there were literally only five "normal" movies I did want to own--
Got two of them for free with the Playstation (remember those first free movies? ![]() As a 3D owner who doesn't particularly like Dreamworks, Zemeckis or Sony CGI movies, I've had to plateau early, but I'm bunkering down and putting my faith in the theaters to serve up something nice. I can take or leave Hugo as a keeper, but might check the price on Tintin, and I don't even know most of what's coming out this year. With Titanic and Phantom Menace coming out, I may not have to wait as long for catalog this time. Last edited by EricJ; 01-11-2012 at 07:23 PM. |

I'm the same, since getting my 3D PJ I've amassed pretty much every new 3D Blu Ray I can get my hands on here in the UK. Got 200 quid worth of titles on Pre-Order as well. I'm even doing things I never thought I would do, dirty things that I'm not proud of, like buying Step Up 3D, just cos I need my 3D hit. I trawl Amazon daily in case there's some cool title I missed, but alas, know em all like the back of my hand. I certainly never in my life thought I would own this many CG cartoons, and I don't even like cartoons much!

I think the initial mad dash is over now. When I first got my 3D set up, there was a back log of movies I was wating to get. Now that I am caught up, I guess you could say I hit a plateau. That's ok though. I still have PS3 and XBOX 360 games in 3D and there is still a slow but steady flow of 3D movies. I am really looking forward to Puss in Boots and Harold and Kumar in the short term and Immortals and Underworld in the long term. I'll grab Journey to the Center of the Earth and Transformers once they drop in price.
I am just happy I don't have to go broke trying to stock up on the 3D blus that are out there. |

![]() Know what you mean, though--Back in the beginning Blu-ray plateau, before Disney started making "real" Blu-rays, I was so desperate to have a Blu I actually liked on my shelf, I found myself buying "Sky High" at a sale, just because it was "pleasant enough". Withdrawal is a terrible thing. (During 3D Withdrawal, even "Nightmare Before Christmas" for $35 starts to look good on the Amazon page...Must show faith and will power. ![]() Quote:
(At the moment, I'm dealing with, "Y'know, 'The Smurfs' isn't really that bad--Neil Patrick Harris isn't funny, but when he's not onscreen, it's actually kinda cute."...Scary, huh? ![]() Last edited by EricJ; 01-11-2012 at 11:14 PM. |

Will definitely get the new ones this year since that's when it's the cheapest.

...that is the question!
Just wondering how you guys sort your 3D blu-rays, ie alphabetically in your normal blu-ray collection, or do you keep them separate? Yeah, I know it's a sad-geek question but I don't care!! ![]() Rich |
