Same ones from DVD undoubtedly. Nobody is going to pay for new extras with most catalog titles these days.

Glad I didn't import the French discs

That is very reasonable. I am glad they did not price them anywhere near what they priced the Classic set which is what I initially feared.

Hopefully they get priced to AIRPORT-like, sub-$20 levels.

There were individual releases of all the sequels? I don't remember that.

I don't think this is an evil ploy to force people to buy multiple copies. I think it's more likely they don't think those third and so on sequels will sell by themselves, so they are bundling these, just as they did with the legacy collections. Although not, I hope, on flippies.

It seems like buying all of the movies individually would have to be more expensive than just waiting for the two boxes to go on sale, no?

To this point I've avoided buying any Universal Monsters on Blu-ray, waiting for Blu-ray counterparts to the Frank, Drac, Wolf, Inv and Creat sets on DVD.

I will definitely get these and await future sets for Dracula, The Invisible Man and The Creature from the Black Lagoon!

Yeah...all in glorious Standard Definition.

SD is simply not a substitute for HD. Sticking with and old technology format for an obsolete technology is no virtue.

Of course, I'm never thrilled about buying multiples. I've managed to avoid it with 99.5% of my BD collection. But what we are seeing here has been Universal's MO for over 15 years. I bought the original monster DVD boxed set circa the year 2000. Then I bought the sequel double features shortly thereafter. Finally, I had to buy the legacy collections to get the remaining movies. It was a lot of money.

I wasn't happy with the cash outlay but Universal has always been very predictable in this regard.

I'm in for all of these.

Im all over these. I have the UK monsters set, which I paid next to nothing for, so buying some again is not an issue for me.

Yeah, it's not just HD over SD, but the studios have gotten so much better at transferring movies in the last ten years, a far more film-like image (non of the electric look of the over sharpened image), & then there's the extra clean-up. I'd have to be really strapped for cash to stick with the old SD transfers.

Knowing Universal's track record with box sets, I'll just wait until these get the more than likely eventual individual releases.

First of all thank you Universal. Secondly I'm in. The Creature set should have the other 3D film in it.

Is there confirmation these are the 4K restorations Universal has been working on? This isn't the announcement I expected and it disturbs me. I guess Universal doesn't believe a boxed set of FRANKENSTEIN and WOLF MAN sequels on their own can sell and have to be supported by the first films and a superior sequel like BRIDE.

I don't know. It presents me with a problem I'm not happy with. The only thing in the WOLFMAN set that I'm interested in in HD is WEREWOLF OF LONDON. I'm going to buy the WOLFMAN collection just to get that one movie? Ah, no I'm not.

So this announcement is kind of a bummer, but actually... has there been an annoucement, you know, like with details?

My comments were before I knew the price. I thought that these would be priced much higher like the Classic set. At the $39.95 price point, I don't mind the duplication or not releasing individual titles.

Yes, I never bought The Mummy, Dracula or Frankenstein Legacy sets as I had already bought individual release of all the films. I should add, some were double features:
