In the outrageous event this is what Universal intended and they have no plans on a replacement program, I'm sending it back on principle. I can't see this being the case. It had to be a mistake.
Yeah, I guess your right. Got it from target so Iíll have a month to return it. Iíll keep it for a few weeks and see what happens. Just mad these are screwed up. Tomorrow is my birthday and this was going to be the perfect birthday present. First Tree of Life got delayed and now this. Two of my favorite things were coming out the day before my bday and now, not. Blah.

I'm mad, too. I mean, the 2-D version isn't even an upgrade from the DVD. It's unbelievable what happened here. I hope we're not waiting weeks to find out what's going on. It better be tomorrow sometime. Severin screwed up with The Changeling and the very next day they offered a replacement program.

Mine had issues loading. I ejected the disc and tried again, menu popped up. The sound as the Universal logo plays is incredibly low. The 3D was split screen for me too. Then I remembered I had the same issue with Vudu’s 3D copy of Rampage. I clicked the 3D button on my tv remote and it’s fixed!

You might have to manually set the 3D.

Now if the 2D is bad, this is a complete ripoff. I already bought the original twice!

The whole thing is a mistake. There is no way Universal would have contracted with the 3-D Film Archive only to release this long-awaited 3-D classic onto Blu-ray in this terrible format. Somewhere along the way a mistake was made and Universal will certainly do something about it. Universal did 4K scans of both sides and then had the archive do the stereo alignment. This is supposed to look spectacular, like The Maze did. Neither version on this disc looks like they came from 4K scans.

Now, it's time to go watch some Invisible Man sequels.

Agreed, there's no way Universal went through all this expense and used the best experts in 3-D restoration, and then deliver this type of release.

And for those saying, "as long as your tv has a workaround" option that it's OK -- no, it's not. This should work properly in every 3-D tv and player, because you may have a different set-up in the future and then it may not play right. Plus, even the 2-D version is apparently low resolution because of the mess-up.

I really believe Universal will handle this and offer a replacement program for those who care. Many don't watch 3-D and many may not even notice the low-resolution on REVENGE, so the number of customers requesting a replacement may not be that giant. But the correction, repress and replication will be the most costly for them. Not worried, though, that Universal won't address this very soon.

I was able to get a proper 3D image for REVENGE by changing my TV's 3D setting to "side by side"; however, the image is REALLY soft (both 2D and 3D versions), especially compared to WALKS AMONG US, which is gorgeous--- sharp as a tack, near-pristine. To say I'm disappointed is a huge understatement... this should've been the release of the year.

Thanks to everyone that posted about this issue. I was able to cancel my Amazon order. I'll re-order when and if they fix it.

This absolutely needs a recall/replacement program. This is clearly a screw-up. It doesn't matter if you can manually set your TV to side-by-side mode. That's not the point. The point is it doesn't meet the official 3D blu-ray specifications. The point is it's sending 720p per eye, not 1080p.

No excuses - this needs to be fixed.

It's a tough day for classic 3-D fans. Couldn't wait to get home today. All those months of waiting. Now, we need to wait again and hope a fix is announced. Then we got to wait for the fix. Really looking forward to hear something from Bob and Greg. Those guys are probably more disappointed than us.

Yup, I'm getting real tired of screw-ups and replacement programs. I'm keeping track of 3 currently, and now this.

I think we can contact Universal here. Let's keep the pressure up until they issue a replacement program.

Except lots of the titles I'm interested in are limited edition and are sold out before they get released. No pre-order = no disc.

I think it's 420p. It does not look like a 4K scan.

I agree.

As to returning for a refund if you already have the disc,
I think one would be wiser to wait a couple weeks to get a response from Universal.
Likely, they will simply send a replacement disc (although that may be Christmas).

I would hope they might consider simply re-authoring a Revenge of the Creature disc only (and let us keep Creature Walks Among Us on the disc as is).

Someone enlighten me,
but I can't recall any polarized/active vision 3D feature sharing the same disc with a completely different feature length movie: Seems like a bad idea from the start.

Bob confirmed on HTF that Revenge should not look soft so whether you’re watching the 2D or 3D version or not something’s not right. Universal definitely owes us an explanation.

You're missing the point. There is no trying to see if it works.

The disc is authored incorrectly. This has been confirmed. Period. It needs to be recalled/replaced. It is not a proper 3D blu-ray disc. It puts out a half-resolution image in a 3D format that does not meet the proper 3D blu-ray specifications.

From the comments Iíve seen, apparently itís softer than Walks Among Us, almost like an upscale DVD!
