Default New subwoofer to replace Tannoy TFX

I've owned my Tannoy TFX 5.1 speaker package for the last five years and use it primarily for watching movies and gaming, and sometimes listening to music. The speakers still work fine, but the subwoofer has developed an issue where it produces a crackling sound. I've since discovered it isn't producing any sound when performing a sound a test with my AV receiver. I took it to Richer Sounds for advice and they said it will cost more to fix it and advised to buy a replacement, so I'm looking to buy a new subwoofer in the 100-300 range to match my existing setup.

Can anyone offer some recommendations that would complement my setup? My Tannoy TFX speakers are connected to a Pioneer VSX323 AV receiver. I may also upgrade this setup with larger speakers in the near future as I'm thinking of upgrading to a 4K TV so I would also like something that's future proof. Some people have recommended subwoofers by BK Electrics which cost about the same as what I paid for my Tannoy 5.1 package. My concern is will I get the most out of it with my small speakers and entry level AV receiver?
