This will piss you off. There's a featurette dedicated just to the use of IMAX on the production, but no, no actual IMAX footage.

This is the only YouTube footage with the IMAX framing.

Since Paramount will most likely re-issue this movie on 4K UHD Blu-ray to coincide with Mission: Impossible- Fallout, who all believes we should get them to release the IMAX version with the open-matted IMAX sequences and shots?

God can "we" please consider not re-re-rehashing this matter, about which there are already pages and pages of comments for those to go back and review if they please.

Setting aside the quaint notion that "we" are going to "get them" to do something contrary to the director's stated preference on this . . . and the fact that Par didn't even do it when there was a contemporary precedent on their own UHD BD slate (ROtF) . . .

. . . there's also the fact that Par couldn't be bothered to even put lossless on reissues of the first three films when GP streeted. Finally just bought the Swedish M: I-iii. PQ on the first two pics' BDs has been the source of grumbling for years. Personally I'd be more interested in remastered presentations with lossless audio of the first two films on UHD BD than an "IMAX" presentation of GP.

I wouldn't hold your breath for either though.
A few wanted UHD BDs: Road To Perdition; Eyes Wide Shut; The Last Samurai; Training Day; 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers Of Benghazi;
Amadeus; Casino; Vertical Limit (2000); Gattaca; Crimson Tide; Master and Commander: The Far Side Of the World; From Hell (2001)

I don't get the glowing PQ reviews for this title at all. I, and some others (read the customer reviews on here) must have a faulty disc then.
I watched this again yesterday, and it's a 3/5 at best. The encoding is just awful. DVD has less macroblocking than this one. The banding during the Dubai sand storm is annoying as hell too. I want the faultless transfer, because mine certainly sucks. There are beautiful scenes, but as soon as there is darkness or reds it goes down hill quickly. YUCK!
I have a 50 inch screen, and I have always seen it. Someone here wrote they can clearly see it on their 30inch screen. What's up with that?

And yes, the lack of the IMAX alternating aspec ratio is just silly on Brad's part IMHO. What the heck?

Such a fun movie, but terrible PQ.
When are they gonna release these movies on BD?:Crossroads (W. Hill; Steve Vai),Fun with Dick & Jane (Jim Carrey, Tea L.), Man on the Moon (Jim C.),Diana Krall-LiveattheMontrealJ.F., Alien Autopsy,Dangerous Lives of Alter Boys (Jodie Foster),Housesitter(Steve M., Goldie H.),Bowfinger (S. M.), Shopgirl (S. M.),OutofTowners (S.M.),Spanglish,Odd Couple 2 (Jack L., Walter M.),Wallace and Gromit-The Curse of the Were-Rabbit,

Re-watched this recently too and noticed some truly terrible macroblocking and artifacting in a few scenes. Going through this thread, it seems like several others mentioned the same issue back when this was released. I have the original Blu + DVD combo, does anyone know if these issues were a bad batch of the initial release, does the standard blu-ray re-release (from 2015) also have the same issues?
