The Godfather Collection (1972-1990) 4K UHD

We’ve gotten more confirmation too from sources that Sony is preparing The Bridge on the River Kwai for 4K UHD release later this year, and that Paramount is preparing The Godfather films for 4K UHD, though we don’t have a timetable for that release. I’ve actually seen tests of both titles on the format and they’re impressive as hell.

Lord, have mercy...THE GODFATHER TRILOGY. This trilogy is one of a few select titles that I will gladly repurchase in UHD. Without hesitation or remorse. Please don't go revisionism with the HDR for GODFATHER. I've begging you Paramount....

Paramount isn't doing Dolby Vision on disk yet though, so no Dolby Vision.

I just about bought these on blu-ray yesterday. Glad I didn't. Ill be getting these on UHD for sure.

Curious to see what HDR/WCG will be like here. These films have a very specific look. I echo Jumpman's concerns, but I'm also excited to see how these will look. This'll be my fourth or fifth time buying these movies and I'll gladly spend the money.

I remember buying them in a black dvd collection for that wich was a lot of money to me at the time, then trying to wait til the bluray box was cheaper but could not wait.. Then a week after they came out, a new bluray boxset with a beautifull purple/redish colour came.. Needless to say i did not eat for weeks.

Insiders get a lot of flack because they're at the mercy of what they are told. People love them when their scoops turn out, and then they burn them alive when they don't. If he said he saw tests I wouldn't think for a second he's lying. Keep in mind that tests do not necessarily mean the studio will decide to release these based on a number of other factors. This 'durp, insider is a joke' hate train has gotten so silly over the years. And not just here, but with other industries as well.

Hey, hold on now. I'm a bit skeptical to, but the fact that he saw tests of this does help his case. Now it could just be Bill Hunt being Bill Hunt, but there is a chance that it isn't this case.

Coppola was showing off clips from Godfather II a good couple of years ago in the Technicolor booth at CES, also Apocalypse Now I think? And, as we saw with all the hoopla about Wrath of Khan getting an HDR pass for the new 4K remaster, having the work done is one thing but getting a UHD disc is something else.
