OMG. Seeing this movie as a kid is the source of all my irrational fears.

Still a long way to go but this will be worth the wait, especially considering Sony's constant quality of 4K (catalogue) releases.

... really? It's a fantasy movie from Jim Henson done with puppets, it's a classic for the genre.

TDC is visually sumptuous and replete with some of the best puppeteering in the biz, but upon viewing it not long ago, the script and some of the plotting didn't hold up for me. It's like the simplistic screenplay and dialog were made for little kids who were weened on Sesame Street in mind, but some of the creepy and nightmarish creatures and truly horrific moments in the film don't jibe with showing it to those same young tykes.

Henson didn't seem to be able to reconcile the conflicting elements like he did in Labyrinth. That was definitely aimed for the teen to adult crowd.

I had been wanting the blu ray steelbook of this for some time now so this would be awesome if it is available in a 4K steelbook. Not too long ago I was curious as to how a DVD would look on a 4K screen so I dusted off the collector's edition and tried it out. It didn't look as bad as I thought it would but still nowhere near the quality of blu ray. I just hope this will have all the same bonus content as the collector's edition DVD. The behind the scenes stuff was as entertaining as the movie itself.

I pawned off my copy of the bluray awhile back, but I seem to remember there was some flaw regarding the audio transfer with some missing music during the end credits, while the DVD special edition being the unedited complete end credit music cue.

NICE! 4K remaster too? Same as Labyrinth received? Really hoping Sony goes with the OG cinematic poster artwork.

This should be mandatory for all catalogue titles IMHO.

Aw yis. Stoked that I won't have to import it. Not my absolute favorite fantasy movie from the era, but indispensable nonetheless. Will go perfect with Labyrinth. Day 1 buy.

Now someone at whatever studios also start working on Legend, Willow, Neverending Story and Princess Bride.
