Solardadd, how is the little Nano sounding compared to when you first got it? Has it changed at all with time? I'm loving my Micro iDSD, power to spare and sounds soooo good, now I just need to get me some really nice upper mid quality cans like the Senn HD 600-650 or similar to really see how this baby works. I know my Philips SHP9500's (surprisingly good open back phones for not a lot of cash) sound fantastic, as do my ATH-M50x's.

Can the iDSD (nano or micro) output line out and headphone at the same time? I want to use it as a desktop DAC but connect the cans occasionally.

Thx.

The Micro iDSD has RCA outputs, which I have running to my Logitech Z623s, along with the headphone output. Here's the link for iFi, check out the specs and see if either would work for you, http://ifi-audio.com/

i think it's either or mind you i could be mistaken. i thought i read that once you plug headphones into the unit, that's where signal went. i can't prove that for a fact as i don't have headphones at work. i'm sure someone will answer that.

hey froggy, i don't use my iDSD for headphones, i use the RCA output to an amp for speakers at my work office. i've never used cans with it so i can't speak to that. i will say, that it got better with use and that it's settled in nicely to where it is now and i'm very happy with it.

I'm glad you like it as much as I love mine. Mine sounded awesome right out of the box, and I use it constantly, and it just seems to get better every day, but that could just be me. You really should try it out with some headphones just to hear how it performs. I can say, even with my pc speakers (z623), which aren't really articulate, more of a brutish powerhouse for sheer volume, it has made them more clear, open and musical, comparing it to my Creative Soundblaster RX sound card, which isn't a bad card, except for the noise from (I think) it not being shielded inside the case. Never got that noise from on board sound, but on board sucked in different ways, just lifeless sounding, lol. The iDSD, silent and sweet sounding.

i don't use headphones unless i'm taking a long bus trip that takes hours or something. i only ever listen to speakers unless i'm on said bus or train or plane!

i do love it in my office with the speakers i have (pair of Vintage Polk Audio Monitor 10 series II) the iDSD produces some of the best quality music i've heard. and that's saying a lot from a think that's about the size of a pack of ciggys!

i had some classical DSD recordings on and it just sounded amazing and i'm talking about DSD256, the album was like 10.5gb with each track averaging 2gb or larger each.

and what a great duo i think the iUSB Power makes when mated with the iDSD (i have that combo) or probably any of the iFi DAC's!

i may suck it up and buy the iFi Rack because it's so nice and it's made for the DAC's. i know, it's a bit of a guilty pleasure, but, that rack is sweet! i may have to buy it.
